Scarlett Witch is my New Favorite Marvel Hero
japierce326 February 2021
This episode is very expository and much NEEDED. Many of the comic book fans don't like it because they say nothing happens but SO MUCH HAPPENS! You don't need an epic fight or some character reveal in order for an episode to be good. Folks need to just WATCH THE SHOW! Let the theories go and WATCH THE SHOW! Elizabeth Olsen has brought such humanity to Wanda. This episode left me fulfilled right the point where I can wait a week for the next...

Beautiful. This is what the MCU should be

Warning: Spoilers
WandaVision stripped back its format to unveil the strength that these shows can provide to the MCU. Emotional to its core, WandaVision gives answers in a deeply moving and captivating way. Every actor is at their very best throughout. In a single episode, Wanda and Vision have become the most complex, sympathetic, and interesting characters in this universe.

Damn, girl !

My God Elizabeth Olsen can act ! I'm not crying easily, but she almost made me like 2 times in this episode. I could watch her for hours and I don't need Avenger level action to enjoy it. I was hyped for Dr Strange 2, but now ooooh man ! I can already tell that movie will blow my mind !

Warning: Spoilers
Just finished the episode and i am speechless. The opening scene was incredible offering a glimpse into Agatha's powers and the whole episode takes a step back into how everything happened to be. Can I just say that Elizabeth Olsen deserves every acting award for this performance. It was just incredible seeing her emotional breakdown and finally become the "Scarlett witch". It truly was heartbreaking and mesmerising the entire time with the ending and post credits scene paving the way for what is sure to be a mind-blowing finale of such a great show.

"What is grief, if not love perservering?"
erikdanielson27 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
WandaVision episode 8, Previously On, is far and a way the best piece of media Marvel Studios has created in a long time, possibly ever. Going into WandaVision, I expected it to tackle a lot of Wanda's trauma after Vision's death, but I didn't expect what is esentially 40 minutes of some of the best character development Marvel Studios has ever put out, as well as one of the best portrayals of what grief and trauma can feel like that I've ever seen

The episode focuses on Agatha Harkness, the series "villain", taking Wanda on a trip down memory lane to relive the most traumatic moments in her life- the death of her parents when she and Pietro were children, her being experimented on by HYDRA, and her visiting the SWORD Headquarters where we get the tragic reality that Wanda didn't steal Vision's body out of cold storage like we'd previously been shown. Instead, we're shown Vision's dismantled body as SWORD agents take him apart to be decomissioned. It's at this moment that everything becomes unbelievably apparent: Wanda, so consumed by grief, created the Westview hex so that she could have the life with Vision that she should have had.

Many people have been saying Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn deserve Emmy nominations for their work in WandaVision, and while both have been excelent throughout the series run, Olsen especially, this episode solidifies that this series, and this episode in particular, is a career best performance for Olsen. Marvel has announced that Wanda will be a huge character in phase 4, and I can't wait to see where they take this character now that she's fully transformed into The Scarlet Witch

I cried three times
shyuhaspivot26 February 2021
This. Episode. IS TOO DAMN GOOD. It is actually the best MCU based thing I have seen. I know I might be speaking in bit of a hyperbole, but I always preferred character-oriented stories rather than CGI explosion fest. As we dived deeper and deeper into Wanda's psyche and trauma throughout the runtime it also presents an important lesson as to how "Grief is just love persevering".

Also that end reveal. I did not expect them to pay homage to the comics to this degree but a welcome surprise! THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE AN AMAZING CHARACTER who happens to be a "female" BTW. Take notes big studios.

So emotional
flowerchildjam26 February 2021
Not ashamed to admit I ugly cried during a certain part in this episode. Wanda and Vision have always been my favorite couple in the MCU, and a refreshing dose of romance and heartbreak in infinity wars. This episode dives into the despair Wanda has felt over Vision and really her entire life thus far. She's been through so much loss at this point there's almost the justification that she deserves some sort of happiness. Elizabeth Olsen has such a commanding emotional core to Wanda it's almost impossible to not have your heart break along with hers.

Beautifully Heartbreaking
jammerknight26 February 2021
Without spoiling anything - this episode brings home the tragedy of what Wanda has endured behind the scenes of the Avengers films we all love in such a beautiful and heartbreaking way. Unlike anything we have seen from the MCU and I am loving every second. Why is there only one more episode!

Exposition and lots of it
nicko-7899126 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a bit of a let down for me, I'm not going to say it wasn't good because this episode was good.

I was a bit upset that it only focused on Wanda's past which I will say left more questions than answers. Agatha was only making Wanda reveal her past to see how she was able to do what she did. I got swept up with the fan theories and expected to see how the secondary characters were going to deal with the situation. I wouldn't be too upset with this episode of the exposition actually gave us more answers on what's going on. I actually thought the story was going to lead into the fact that Wanda is a Mutant and that's why she was able to survive the Scepter's power (or she was just lucky). Agatha goes into an explanation that Wanda has Chaos magic which again brings more questions than answers such as "what is chaos magic?" How does Wanda have that? And why is she called by her Comic book accurate name? How's does being the "Scarlet Witch" have anything to do with her power? What does her name entail? Obviously it's some sort of status or title that a power witch would have but how does she have all of that? Other than the unanswered questions, the upsides of the episode is the cinematography and of course THE ACTING. Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn kill it in this episode with their skills. They both bring their A game and it's definitely worth being shoveled the loads of Exposition that is given. I just hope the final episode is long enough to answer all the unanswered questions as well as make the fans happy, I don't see this episode pleasing many of the fans.

Ehhh, it was a so-so episode
jimmyedurham26 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Given that we left off the last episode in sort of a cliffhanger (thanks post-credit scene), I expected that we'd at least touch a tad more on that. Alas, no such luck; Monica apparently can wait.

For a series of 9 episodes, it seemed like a colossal waste of time magically walking around in Wanda's history. What's implied but not made clear is why this Agatha person has such an invested interest in Wanda. The implication appears to be plain envy. Yawn. If so, Agatha plays as far, far, far more emotionally angry and vicious than one would expect from a little bit of power envy. There's always the possibility that Wanda and Agatha are 🎵cousins, identical cousins🎵 (get it?).

The penultimate episode doesn't seem like the best time to put the brakes on and focus on two characters, one of whom we still learn little about. In this episode, Agatha was merely a plot device/audience proxy to fill in some blanks that maybe could have been filled in earlier or at least in less detail.

It's not bad per se. However, it isn't one of the bests WandaVision has done.

An incredible look back.
JamesHunt182 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
We finally get some answers to the meta nature of this series as a result of Wanda's past. One great thing about this series is the consistent use of it's metaphors and this is the best example of that. The episode focuses it's style on a common, but usually insignificant, segment of a show: "previously on". However, instead of giving us a standard recap we get a new origin story and compelling and emotional journey to explain why Wanda got to where she is.

This episode may not give us anything new to the wandavision story itself, excluding the ending of course, but it significantly raises the stakes of what's to come in the finale. What we do get is some great character work and acting between Olsen and Hahn once again; both of which deserve Emmy's from this.

One of, if not, the best episode of the entire series and with so much potential left, I can't wait to discover how they end this series and what it will leave us with going forward in the mcu.

Episode 8 was better than episode 5, and I tought it wasn't possible. Fantastic writing and scenography, CGI really really good, better than some movies. I hope episode 9 gives us the same emotional impact as this episode

Blown. Away.
EeeGee26 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show just continues to impress so much. After last week's end of episode "reveal" (I'm using inverted commas there because I feel like a good portion of us may have seen that coming!) I absolutely KNEW that Agatha wasn't the only one behind this and this has confirmed it in SO many ways.

But who? I have my theories but there were so many different clues that confused me!

It was just amazing to see so vividly into Wanda's backstory (and bravo for the showrunners for explaining it nice and clearly without condescension to the non-movie goers/comic readers in the viewership) So many key moments that we knew about but hadn't seen. Sad we didn't get to see the real Pietro for a moment even in flashbacks.

Seeing her come into her powers from the Mind Stone and showing that connection with the Vision was such a beautiful and emotional moment too. Showing how powerful grief can really be.

Oh and it 100% cemented how much of %}^# Hayward is.

I, in equal parts, can't wait and am really not looking forward to next week's final episode.

The Ghost of Wanda's past
evansjoshyr26 February 2021
I don't know how they continue to make incredible episodes week after week that surpass previous ones, but somehow they do. This episode was a deep character study that also served to push the plot forward. The origins of Agatha, Wanda and even the Hex are finally explained. It helped us understand Wanda with the constant sitcom theme throughout her whole life always being alongside her heartbreaking loss. This episode was a joy to watch and Agatha makes such a good villain. Can't wait for the finale!

Home Run
deleonachilles1 March 2021
The penultimate episode of WandaVision hits it out of the park. It revealed answers about Wanda's past and showed us a glimpse of what is coming. Laced with some of the most amazing visuals in the MCU, poignant screenplay, and superb acting from Olsen,Bettany, and Hahn, "Previously On" is in my opinion the best episode to date and I can't wait for the finale to hopefully tie it all together.

It is not easy to make a very good Super Hero Show like this
thenavigator-577891 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I mean look at DC with all the reboots and recasting, Thanks Marvel for continuing that awesomeness throughout more than a decade!

That Scene when wanda was in avengers base lonely in an unknown country to her and after the failure of Civil War,

The Conversation between her and vision is so well written, And Elizabeth Olsen's acting Throughout the whole scene and after is Really incredible,

She's just not introducing and shallow action events telling story, She is here for an amazing real-life grade performance.

And as Vision Said: 'What is grief if not perservering?" 💔

Practically pointless
cwwesthoff0126 February 2021
They have some ok connections in this episode but ultimately falls flat and feels like filler instead of just doing something better and actually building up the finale, there is also many retcons within its own show between Vision and Wanda that make absolutely no sense on multiple levels, when a show decides to go a flashback root it has to have a point and the point here is pointless because no matter how the story goes it has no effect on the overall end, it was cool finally hearing a very long awaited name drop, but other than that watch the post credits for this one and honestly nothing will have changed that's all you need

Maybe I'm the only one...
dnanrocks26 February 2021
I didn't really like it... for the episode before the finale, it was pretty much all exposition, and a bit too slow in pace for me. I was really hoping that the first TV entry to the MCU would have some crazy game changing events, but now I'm realizing they wouldn't do that in the TV shows because of the amount of people that would be lost when watching the movies. Overall the last two episodes were disappointing to me, but I'm hoping something impactful happens in the finale!
