Charles asks if Bruce is sure of what he's going to do, and Bruce says that he is. The aide gives Bruce Bruce's last will and testament sign, and Bruce tells him that he won't be requiring his services further. He thanks Charles for everything he's done, and Charles leaves.
On Themyscira, the Amazons gather around Donna's body as it lies in state. Rachel is with them, and the Amazon Myrrha watches as Rachel briefly tries to use her powers. They don't work, and Rachel looks at Myrrha who shakes her head. Afterward on the beach, Myrrha trains a blindfolded Rachel with a sword, and asks what Rachel was trying to do. Rachel says that she was trying to bring Donna back, and Myrrha says that she was just like Rachel at her age.
Rachel tells Myrrha that she's been on Themyscira for months and all she does is train, and Myrrha knows that she can do more. Myrrha tells the girl that Rachel is there to learn their ways, and certain things are not achieved by force. The ritual in the temple require patience and dedication. As Myrrha swings at Rachel, Rachel uses her black essence to block the sword.
An elder Amazon, Lydia, comes up and says that the ritual also requires humility. Rachel apologizes, and Lydia tells her to proceed with her training and leaves.
A train travels through a snow-covered landscape, and Tim Drake wakes up in one of the passenger car seats. There are other people in the car, and the Train Conductor comes in. The Conductor confirms who Tim is, and Tim asks him where they're going. The new arrival says that he can't, and Tim says that he can't remember why they're there. The Conductor says that it's perfectly normal and things will come back with Tim, and tells him to come with him because they're almost at Tim's stop.
The Conductor grabs Tim, and Tim breaks his grip and runs the other way. Donna is one of the passengers that Tim goes past, and she watches him go. After a moment, she goes after him.
Behind them, the Conductor's face briefly distorts. He growls and goes after Tim.
Tim comes to the next car, and Donna approaches him and asks if he's all right. She says that it's the Next Place, and they're all dead. They introduce themselves and hear multiple Conductors in the car behind them, calling for Tim. Tim insists that he's not dead, goes to the back platform, and jumps. Donna curses to herself and goes after him.
Rachel goes to the temple and Donna's body, summons her power, and tries to resurrect her teammate. Nothing happens, and Lydia comes in and glares at Rachel.
Tim runs through the forest, and Donna goes after him. She superspeeds ahead of him and asks where he's going, and he says that he's going back home. Tim asks Donna why she's following him, and she says that he looks scared and they should probably go back. He tells her that isn't going to happen, and she says that she went through the same thing as he did, but the point of life and death is moving forward.
Tim insists that he has to go home, and doesn't remember how he died. He tells Donna that if she wants go back to the train, she should go. Ghouls emerge from the nearby trees, and Donna says that she doesn't know who they are and asks them if they're from the train. They unleash energy from their hands, and Tim clutches at himself in pain. Donna tells Tim to run and they both do so. A car pulls up with Hank Hall driving, and he tells them to get in. They do so, and Hank drives up. Donna recognizes Hank and he recognizes her, and chuckles.
The next day on Themyscira, the Amazons are on the beach, and perform a ritual seeking the blessings of Artemis. Rachel is there, and Lydia says that the ritual has been disrupted and the act of blasphemy has caused an imbalance. Lydia announces that the transmigration of Donna's soul has been corrupted and her hope of resurrection has been jeopardized. Rachel starts to object, and Myrrha gestures to her to be silent.
Lydia says that the balance must be restored, and Myrrha speaks on Rachel's behalf. She says that Rachel is a visitor and mostly ignorance of their ways, and Lydia points out that Rachel is willfully ignorant. Myrrha says that she will oversee an increase in Rachel's training, and instruct her in the culture of Themyscira. Lydia says that it isn't sufficient. Rachel tells them that she wasn't committing blasphemy, and they have no proof that what Rachel did hurt Donna or her soul's transmigration. She says that she shouldn't be punished because they are afraid of her and her powers.
Rachel tells the Amazons that she sees why Donna left Themyscira. Donna was a hero while the other Amazons are cowards,. Myrrha asks for permission to speak privately with Rachel, and Lydia says that the hearing has concluded and she will handle "result" herself. before walking off.
Hank drives down a road through the forest, and tells Donna that he thinks they lost the Shadows. Tim dozes off in the back, and Donna tells Hank what Tim's name and that he's still adjusting to have died. Hank tells Donna that he died as well, and explains that if someone gets off the train before their destination, the ghouls hunt them down in the "no man's land". The ghouls steal someone's soul if they get close enough, taking the person down to Hades.
Donna asks what happened to Hank that he died, and he says that Jason killed him. He explains that Jason started using drugs, became Red Hood, went nuts, strapped a bomb to Hank's chest, and blew him up. Tim wakes up as Hank intended when he made a "boom" noise to illustrate his point. Donna figures that Dawn is devastated, and Hank figures she'd better be.
Hank takes the others to a bar, the Twilight Owl. The proprietor, Malcolm, greets them and Hank orders food for Tim while he and Donna talk. Tim tells Hank that he has to get home, and Hank says that they both need to but right now Tim should go with Malcolm. He assures Tim that they'll figure it out.
Once Tim and Malcolm leave, they duo take a set and Hank tells Donna that she's n the only one who jumped off the train. Donna figures going back isn't an option, and Hank says that it is and he may have found a "loophole". He says that he's heard a rumor that there's a bridge back to Earth, and he was scouting for it when he found Donna and Tim. Hank explains that the Titans on Earth could use their help against Jason, and they can go back together. He figures that's why it's all happening and they met, and they have a second chance. Donna tells Hank that she doesn't want to go back.
Lydia takes Rachel to a chamber holding a statue, and explains that the statue, Nedma, represents the human soul. The Amazon claps and the pieces of the statue fall apart, and she tells Rachel that she's supposed to put it back together to restore balance where balance has been lost. Lydia says that Rachel should rebuild Nedma however she can, using every stone, and says that it's not more difficult than the task of building a soul.
Donna says that Hank doesn't know if they can go back, and figures that they're supposed to let the desire for revenge go. She says that they died and it is what it is, and she's not happy about how she went out. Donna says that she's spent a lot of time trying to make sense of her death, and has figured it doesn't make sense. Hank says that it made sense to the person whose life she saved, but Donna points out that they saved a lot of people and it didn't change things. She has decided to move forward.
Two ghouls appear outside the doors, and they pass through the doors and start draining Tim's soul. Donna moves to shield Tim, and Hank shoots the ghouls with two guns. They disappear, and Tim remembers someone shooting him in the back.
Rachel rebuilds Nedma as Lydia looks on, and Rachel asks her what they're training for. The girl says that she trained to fight with the Titans, but they didn't fight very often. Lydia tells her that fighting one battle often leads to another, and Nedma falls over. Rachel groans in frustration and anger, and Lydia smiles and says that her daughter's temper was even greater than Rachel's. When Rachel asks, the Amazon explains that her daughter is dead and was killed in battle. They tried to bring her back, but failed.
Lydia says that she's seen resurrection so it's possible, but doesn't know how and why they succeeded. She eventually wondered who she was attempting to bring her daughter back for. Rachel considers and goes back work on Nedma.
Donna tells Hank that when Tim is ready, she's going to take him back to the train. He tells her that she's not, and points out that she ran to the ghouls when they came in, and shielded Tim even though she only met him an hour ago. He figures that Donna isn't done being a hero, and Donna says that she's not going to risk Tim's soul to go looking for the bridge.
Tim overhears Donna and says that it is worth it, having realized their secret identities. He explains that when he was alive, he did a lot of research on them and knows about the other Titans. Tim says that they're all in Gotham fighting Crane, he was trying to help them, and that's how he got shot. When Donna says that she knows how Tim feels, Tim says that he was shot in the back, and wanted to be a hero but froze and then ran, and died a coward. He insists that's why he has to go back, because that can't be the end of his story.
Donna tells Tim that being a hero doesn't mean not being scared, or someone putting themselves in danger they're not ready to handle. Tim asks them if they can give him some pointers when they all get back to Gotham, and Hank is impressed. Donna tells Tim that if they end up on Earth, he doesn't know if will work out any different. Tim says that all he needs is a chance. Donna agrees that they'll both help Tim, and they leave.
Rachel finishes rebuilding Nedma, using her powers to place the last piece. Lydia watches, and Nedma collapses again. Rachel accepts that Donna is really dead and not coming back, and asks Lydia if Donna's soul will be okay. Lydia hopes so, and Rachel says that she thinks she should go. She asks Lydia if that was the result she was hoping for, and Lydia suggests that perhaps balance has been restored, and then walks out.
Hank and the others drive to the bridge, and Hank says that ever since he died he's been in touch with his spiritual side. Things work differently in the afterlife, and if someone concentrates, they can summon something into existence. Hank admits that he was scared at the bar, and he wishes he had guns. The guns appeared in his hands.
The trio reach the landmark they're looking for, pull over, get out, and proceed on foot. They find the bridge which extends over a vast chasm. Donna steps onto the bridge, and Hank and Tim follow her. The bridge shakes and ghouls appear ahead of them, and start sucking Tim's soul. More ghouls come up behind them, cutting off any chance of escape, and Donna tries to summon guns but ends up with bottles.
Donna breaks the bottles and prepares to use them against the ghouls. Hank summons robinrangs, throws them at the ghouls, and misses. Donna throws one of the bottles and kills a ghoul, while Hank tries to summon guns again and ends up with nunchaku which he uses to hit the ghouls. Meanwhile, Donna summons a sword and fights the ghouls, The bridge falls apart between Donna and the others, and Hank tells Tim to jump. then turns to continue his fight.
Donna tells Tim to jump to her, and Tim says that he can't. He takes a running leap and only makes it halfway, and Donna lassos him with her magic lasso that appears in her hands and pulls him to safety. She then uses the lasso to whip through the ghouls, and yells at Hank to join them. A ghoul teleports to Tim and drains his soul, and Hank through his nunchaku at it. It dissipates, and Hank tells Donna to get Tim away before more ghouls come, and tell Dawn that he loves her.
Donna leads Tim on across the bridge, and the ghouls advance on Hank. He concentrates and summons... a baseball bat. Figuring he can work with it, Hank turns and hits the ghouls.
Tim and Donna reach the other side, and they figure that they made it. He thanks Donna, and hears a bubbling noise. He collapses and Donna catches him, and Tim starts to fade away. Donna tells him that he is a hero, and made the jump. Tim disappears entirely and Donna with him.
Waking up, Tim finds himself in a hospital. The nurse reports that Tim was dead for 93 seconds.
Hank fights his way off the bridge, and it disappears behind him. His half-brother Don comes up and greets Hank, and Hank runs over and hugs Don. Don says he h's been looking for Hank, and Hank tells his brother that he almost missed him. Hank notices that Don is in his Dove costume, and Don says that a lot of people around need help, so he figured the afterlife could use a Dove and Hawk. Hank jokingly corrects him to "Hawk and Dove", and says that they'll talk about it when Don disagrees. They walk off hugging.
Rachel is preparing to leave Themyscira, then hears something. She goes to the chamber with Donna's body, only to find the body is gone.
Bruce pours gasoline on the floor of the castle, then takes out a match and lights it. Fire soon spreads through the castle, and Bruce passes out from smoke inhalation. Donna arrives and carries him to another room and wakes him up. Bruce wonders if he's dead, and Donna tells him that he isn't. When he points out that she's dead, Donna says that she isn't anymore.
