- General Beckman sends a new agent to assess Sarah's relationship with Chuck. Morgan, Jeff, and Lester use any and all means to crash Awesome's bachelor party.
- Captain Awesome ultimately accepts to let the nerd herd join his bachelor party when they offer to host it for free in the Buy More, which ends up producing compromising pictures Ellie gets to see. Even worse for Devon, his hospital badge is missing, a firing offense. Chuck has to impersonate him to plant a tracking device in a top-wanted Pakistani terrorist's right hand's heart, with his personal physician Dr. Mohammed Zamir keeping a watchful eye. During the operation, Chuck proves that he functions perfectly in the team despite of even better because of his close relationship with Sarah, contrary to agent Alex Forrest, whom the general sent to test them.—KGF Vissers
- When we last saw Chuck (Zachary Levi), he had lost trust in Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), as had her spy agency superiors. Will either be able to trust the yogurt-shop clerk again? Perhaps, but business first: Chuck walks outside his (actually his sister's) humble abode when three masked men step out of the darkness. They throw a bag over Chuck's head and start dragging him away to parts unknown -- only to be confronted by a very angry Casey (Adam Baldwin). The would-be kidnappers remove their masks to reveal Jeff (Scott Krinsky), Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and Lester (Vik Sahay). "It's a practice run for when we kidnap Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) for his bachelor party," Morgan explains. Chuck is apoplectic. Casey turns the garden hose on the uninvited guests.
Back in Chuck's room, the general (Bonita Friedericy) suddenly appears on the desktop screen. "I would like to know if your relationship with agent Walker is compromising your job performance," the military woman says. Chuck denies such allegations, but the general clearly isn't buying the act (and neither are we). "We're going to have to do a 49B," she says. And what exactly is a 49B? Agent Alex Forrest (Tricia Helfer), to be exact, another hottie super spy sent to access whether Sarah and Chuck can continue to work together. Yowza.
Cut to the underground yogurt-shop lair, where the team plus Alex get a rundown on this week's mission. Turns out a terrorist named Ahmed may be having a procedure at a local hospital under the name "Harry Lime." Chuck, using the Intersect, must "infiltrate the hospital to confirm Ahmed's identity. Sounds easy enough. We're sure it will go off without a hitch.
Meanwhile, Morgan, Lester and Jeff -- henceforth referred to as MLJ -- are scheming for an invite to Awesome's awesome bachelor blowout. They accost an already disturbed Chuck, suggesting an after party set inside the Buy More. "The answer is 'no,'" Chuck snaps. Naturally, MLJ has no intention of accepting Chuck at his word. Bartowski then visits the yogurt shop to apologize to Sarah for getting her into this whole 49B mess. He also manages to suggest the agent look up his dad in the "system" so the old man might attend Ellie's wedding. Alex enters, explaining Sarah could be fired for misusing the government's secret files in such a way. Chuck is chastened. Sarah looks downright nervous.
Sometime later, the team plus Alex is parked outside the hospital where Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome happen to work. The plan: as soon as Chuck confirms the true identity of Harry Lime, Casey will enter the hospital and insert a tracking device in the man's pacemaker. This way, the team will be able to locate Ahmed's boss (the head of the terrorist network). Chuck and Sarah soon notice Casey and Alex are completing each other's sentences. Another match made in espionage heaven, perhaps? No time for love, however. Chuck and Alex head inside the hospital to discover "Harry Lime" has a personal doctor named Mohammed. Chuck has an INTERSECT moment, confirming Lime as the infamous Ahmed! Turns out Mohammed is no angel either. Casey springs into action. The problem: he needs a special keycard to access the hospital's most secure area. Just then, Casey notices a certain doctor accessing the exact area with a certain special keycard. Uh oh.
Uh oh, indeed. Back at the underground yogurt-shop lair, Casey defends his plan to "borrow" Awesome's access card. "Only a couple of doctors have that keycard," he says. "Ken doll happens to be one of them." Chuck protests, especially when Alex begins loading her tranquilizer gun. "I think I know how we can have our spy cake and eat it, too," Chuck says. Sure enough, MLJ is called into action. They kidnap Awesome in the hospital parking lot and haul him to the Buy More, where the bachelor party has been set up. Let the boozing and card-stealing begin!
Sarah, in the meantime, is getting some bad news. "Based on my observations, agent Walker is far too emotionally entwined with the asset," Alex tells the general. "She always places the subject's feelings before orders." Says the general: "As of right now, your services are officially terminated. Report back to Langley." Alex won't even let Sarah say goodbye to her pseudo boyfriend Chuck.
Back at the Buy More, Casey is having a hard time getting Awesome's hospital ID (turns out Awesome's tolerance is kind of awesome), so he calls Alex, who has a "back-up plan." That plan is for the hottie agent to dress up like a stripper and come walking into the bachelor party in slow motion. No one, Casey least of all, protests. Alex takes Awesome into the back room for a private dance. Awesome protests, so Alex shoots him with a tranquilizer dart. Chuck is, once again, apoplectic. He threatens to call the general and say Alex has gone too far. But it's too late. "I'm your new handler," Alex practically growls.
Sometime later, the general explains Casey has succeeded in implanting the tracker in Ahmed's pacemaker and Sarah is indeed gone for good. But neither, as it turns out, is exactly true. At the hospital, Dr. Mohammed scans Ahmed's body and discovers the bug. Furious, he checks the chart and learns Awesome performed the surgery. Uh oh. Sarah, in the meantime, is speeding out of town in a sports car when the results of a search for Chuck's dad come back. She takes the next exit to turn around.
Cut to Ellie and Awesome's pad, where Chuck is home alone. He looks out the window and notices two terrorist agents in the courtyard. Thinking fast, Bartowksi puts on Awesome's doctor coat and professes to be his future brother-in-law. The two thugs immediately haul the Chuckster off to parts unknown, tossing his government-issued wristwatch in the meantime. Minutes later, Sarah sneaks in through Chuck's window to drop off an envelope containing daddy's whereabouts. She notices Chuck's phone lying on the bed and immediately calls Casey and Alex. "I think Chuck's in trouble," she says. "He never goes anywhere without his phone." When Alex refuses to let Sarah in, Casey says that Sarah is "The best partner I ever had".
Alex reluctantly allows Sarah back into the underground yogurt-shop lair, where Casey has discovered Ahmed's tracking device is no longer tracking. Something is blocking the signal. Sarah takes over, searching a grid of the city. She quickly figures out the tracking device stopped working near a foreign-run bank. "A bank vault!" Casey exclaims. "Nice work, Walker." Indeed, it is. Take THAT, 49B!
Sure enough, Chuck has been dragged to that exact bank vault, where a makeshift hospital room has been constructed. Mohammed insists Chuck, still posing as Dr. Awesome, remove the bug from Ahmed. "If you don't save him, nothing can save you," Mohammed threatens. Bartowski stalls when GUN SHOTS! Casey, Sarah and Alex are cutting down guards outside the locked vault! Thinking fast, Chuck sprays Mohammed with nitrous gas. Soon, the evil doc and Chuck are laughing hysterically -- both high as a kite. In fact, Chuck even gets his new spaced-out buddy to reveal the location of the world's most wanted terrorist, rendering the bug in Ahmed moot. Getting high, as it turns out, does have certain advantages! Sarah manages to crack the vault and bursts inside, gun drawn. "Sarah!" a woozy Chuck exclaims. "Is it really you, or am I super stoned?" Mission accomplished.
Cut to the underground yogurt-shop lair. The general is debriefing the team when Chuck steps forward. Even Casey urges him on. "We care about each other," he says of Sarah and himself. "I know it's not protocol or whatever, but it's those feelings that ended up saving my life," he monologues. The general, shockingly, agrees. "You can resume your post agent Walker," she says. Alex looks perturbed, but we and the Chuckster have little sympathy.
But not all is well. Ellie is furious Awesome came home shirtless from the bachelor party -- and missing his medical keycard on top if it. She also catches Chuck returning the card, believing her brother is covering for her cheating fiancé. Hurt, but unable to explain the truth to his sis, Batowski heads to Sarah's apartment for counsel. "I can't believe how much the United States government has hurt the people I love," Chuck says. Sarah suggests perhaps it is time the government did just the opposite. Gasp! Are we about to meet Chuck's long lost pops?
Chuck and Sarah pull up to a trailer in the middle of nowhere. The former knocks on the door ... but there is no answer. "I'm sorry," Sarah says. Chuck leans in to kiss his gal pal when the door to the trailer suddenly opens. "Dad?" Chuck asks. To be continued ...
