Could have been better
pvtk20 July 2022
It's good parallel story and could have been more interesting if they added few conflicts in the narration. Goes very plain and predictable throughout except judgement in the ending.

Acting wise, almost every one acted well and justified.

This courtoom drama takes the safest possible route! [+50%]
arungeorge1317 July 2022
Vaashi never rises above watchable, but its core premise is refreshing. While the film has a breezy first half which portrays the chemistry between the leads (Tovino & Keerthy), the second half which covers a larger portion of the courtroom drama lacks a certain dramatic intensity. The case presented is one of contemporary significance, and the performances do not disappoint. But somewhere along the way, the the writing loses its grip on the viewer. Ego clashes aren't exactly new to Malayalam cinema, and neither are courtroom dramas, but the challenge for director Vishnu Raghav was to come up with a compelling, cogent plot with sufficient texture. He succeeds to some extent and it isn't easy to pick sides here. That being said, the film's central conflict (i.e. The ego clash) is resolved rather easily while the legal tussle concludes in predictable fashion.

One time watch

Great parallel storylines. However the story progression could have been written to be more interesting.

Very good performance by Tovino. Keerthy Suresh could have done more justice to her character which looked a little forced and juvenile at times.

The movie however captures very peculiar topics of marriage, romance, feminism and orthodox mindset of women in the society.

The concept of this movie is simple although story is quite interesting. However, the story could be more interesting. They did a very good job over acting and Did well in creating story.

Movie gets slow and the ending isn't fair. Good otherwise.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed waiting the chemistry between Tovino and Keerthi. The courtroom drama starts in a good time but gets repetitive and slow in the second half. Some messages given in the movie are commendable like cross religious harmony, keeping personal and professional life separate, and women empowerment but I didn't agree with the final verdict. The overall case is also weak for 21st century. Sex is common these days between couples and the verdict of this movie gives a wrong message.

Just an Ott movie..
Macintosh_mathew_9117 July 2022
Plot is very familiar with malayalam industry, as husband and wife fighting for a case, which we have seen in 90 movies. Movie is not a theater type. A maximum capacity for an OTT or short film type.

Tovino and rest team acting and casting was good. Only poor acting and casting was keerthy suresh..Parvathy was better for the heroine role.

A narrative very relevant to the time
neethun-8001317 June 2022
Cinema in the recent times have made so conditioned to the idea that everything needs to be overly dramatised and larger than life. It is refreshing to see movies that keep the narrative a little bit more rooted. I enjoyed how Vaashi depicts the Court Room as a Court Room and not like a Battlefield of screaming and shouting. Well written, Very relevant and definitely thought provoking.

Vaashi is an above average film
Eggoreluckadman22 July 2022
Good performances from Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh; Unfortunately it doesn't compensate for mediocre directing, writing and pacing.

You know you're movie isn't good when your favorite aspect is the editing.

I definitely didn't hate the movie, but it's very safe and made no room for discussion.

Mediocre at Best....
georgethomasp8 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A story and context which is very relevant in today's times. Pre-marital sex, casual relationships, career vs family, ego clashes between couples and so on and so forth. Every ingredient to make a perfect movie which would resonate with so many of the current generation and also keep the family box checked.

But, unfortunately poor direction, weak dialogues and a lack of any chemistry between the leading pair made for a mediocre tale with so many moments that make you go "If only....".

The movie needed a pair with a little more acting range and a lot of the moments lack any naturality and feel forced and very over done. The wry smiles, the angry grimace, shocked expressions all feel completely off. Tovino is a mass performer and unfortunately this movie needed a performer of a higher caliber. The same goes for Keerthy but honestly I believe she did a better job than her male counterpart.

My favorite performer was actually Anagha who played the victim. Her portrayal and the range of emotions especially when she confesses what she did to Tovino were some of the best moments. Baiju also felt under utilized and some of the moments actually felt like they were introduced with no real reason only to create opportunities for increased tension.

Super Movie
vpnairk21 June 2022
First the combo is very well executed through out the film.. story narrated in a brilliant way to balance both roles till the end.. Hope to see again this combo in future. Tovino again proved himself that he can handle any kind of role in an extraordinary way.

Mediocrity at its best
vjnambu9 December 2022
Ebin(Tovino) and Madhavi(Keerthy) are two aspiring lawyers and are in love with each other. Ebin is from a rich and influential Christian family and madhavi is from a middle class hindu family with only her mother. Ebin, with the influence of his brother in law Jose(Rony) is appointed as a public prosecutor. Ebin is first assigned a case of a girl anusha by her father who files a case against her colleague gautham for having sex with her with the promise of marrying her and later cheating her. Its madhavi who appears for gautham since they are childhood friends. For ebin, its his first case as public prosecutor and a prestige issue. On the other hand for madhavi its her family friend. Hence both can't withdraw from this case. On top of that, due to family pressure both have to get married while this case is going on. How this case take a toll on their married life and whether they can live happily keeping their professional differences aside is the rest of the movie.

Vaashi has an interesting plot backed by decent performances from tovino and keerthy. But it suffers from extremely mediocre direction and production values. Script tries to be on a safe zone and the courtroom is not hardhitting.

The movie navigates a very narrow corridor
plugincaro24 June 2022
The movie navigates a very narrow corridor... almost within 4 walls... inside the court & at home... the characters focuses on just 2 people the entire time... and the story revolves around just 4 people... to such an extent... that they could have done away with the rest... The movie LACKED a proper story... and a proper end... but it's well directed with what it had... the climax was an anti-climax... Last scene was really a mystery... The cast played their part well... The film has no bite and leaves you with mixed feelings... I would not recommend this as a must watch movie to anyone.

Seems like this movie was made more for Menaka's daughter's launch in Malayalam movies.

It also seemed like a tried & tested formula between 2 friends... fighting case in court from opposite ends.

Good storyline, but slow paced movie
maruthuk-2147019 August 2022
Got to watch this movie after getting it suggested in one of the FM radio channels. Storyline of the movie was simple, but yet interesting, probably screenplay could have been better to make movie fast-paced and thrilling one.

Both Tovino Thomas and Keerthi Suresh carry the entire movie on their shoulders and they both look like a real pair probably because of their acting.

This movie also brings into light the problems faced by Lawyers in early stages of their careers and how they struggle to become successful.

A well-made, grounded courtroom drama
Abdulxoxo3 September 2022
Vaashi is a well-made courtroom drama that's a welcome change for me from the usual masala flicks. The feature utilizes its time well and introduced the characters, especially the two leads. This film is in part a romantic drama and a courtroom drama. I have to say both sides work really well to make this film is engaging and attention grabbing. This film wouldn't have worked if the characters are underdeveloped and the actors are subpar. The characters are so rich, each with their own personalities. The two lead actors are excellent in portraying characters with flaws and contrasting ideals. It was interesting to see how their professional lives progressively affects their personal lives. The case become intense as the story moves along, to the point where they don't speak to each other, their lack of professionalism all comes down to how much they needed to win the case and prove that they are better than the other. At some point, it's not even about their clients but their ego. I like the juxtaposition of the case as to how the male character represent the female client and vice versa in such a sensitive issue. It provides a fresh perspective and they both present valid points. On the whole, a really charming film with nice script, well-drawn characters and decent performances.

Could have been better but a weak script and bad casting brings it down.
countdredd17 July 2022
This movie has some good moments and there are a few sunny spots. Tovino is really good as usual. Even the supporting characters perform admirably. Praise worthy really.

But a poor script and unbelievably Bad Acting by Keerthi Suresh spoils the narrative so horribly. Another case against blatant nepotism promoting bad casting decisions thereby stealing opportunities for deserving actors and defacing good art.

The characterisation of the victim personally seems out of touch with reality. And the ending would seem unfair to some.

A good effort and vision honestly but all the essential parts failed to come together as needed to create what could have been a great movie.

Basic storyline

There is absolutely nothing in this movie. There are plenty of movies with same storyline. Movie starts in a decent manner but again gets into the same old professional rivalry.

I created IMDB account after watching this movie just to give genuine rating.
prabhucharan-1223420 July 2022
DIRECTOR!! FIRT LEARN ABOUT HOW COURTS FUNCTION BEFORE CREATING A MOVIE AROUND IT.

Utter nonsense!!

That is not how prosecution probes in court.

The movie clearly shows prosecution manipulating the victim and asking the girl to tell court that the guy forced her.

The lead role - Hero of your film does nonsense. Script and writing should have been cross checked by competent legal advisors.

Prosecution does not lead the victims and have them say whatever they needed. Court does not function that way. Any lawyer in their right might would object.

No basis for a case.

There was no false promise Or Rape.

No witness.

DIRECTOR YOU MADE A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF AND A MOCKERY OF LAW.

2 movies 2 stories with no message
Moviebuff_Chennai28 July 2022
I really don't know what Vaashi means, but took the 2 hours and watched the whole play.

Started off very well with proper intros for both and families also shown clear. The first 30 mins was moving like a rom-com plot. I also thought it would be like the Tamil movie India Pakistan (Vijay Antony). Later the plot moved into a weak case of a couple, where no one had their strong part of their claim.

That took off almost at the 40th minute and extends till the end of the movie which has very less emotional values. As it is definitely a debatable topic but the movie was presented very poor like the audience would think it as a different story in the same movie. In fact that case should have pushed the lead couple to detachment. Atleast the things happening could have been practical but that failed too.

Had a very good message to tell but diverted a lot and made us forgot the concept itself.

Beautifully scripted and directed!!
pillaianu2917 July 2022
It's very plain simple and another month in a couple's life!!

The case doesn't stand much valid I feel. It showed much of a couple perceiving their life and job. Tovino hats off... Wit his innocent smile and acting. Keerti certainly has shown a good performance.

I loved the movie overall.

should have been better
pandthu24 July 2022
The movie should have been better. The director might have thought people will travel with hero and heroin and if they are happy ,people also will be .the director didn't realise that people watching will pick sides.. its not like what hero says and do is right.. most people would want to have an simplified ending to the case than what happens in reality . I watched this with a group of friends and most wr like what the #@#@ when the court makes judgement. The makers made a big mistake they pitched this movie as a commercial one with hard-hitting ending .
