Having Brandy pretend to be Jinx, her mom, is quite revealing of Brandy's real feelings about her mom and her big sister. Coupled with the scenes Mary reveals with Tripp how she knows how tough his situation is, we get amazing insight into the Shannon family dynamics. Jesse James plays the nuanced character of Tripp with skill and the genuine passion a teen might feel given the circumstances. That is why I keep watching this series even though I have already seen every episode.
