Run-of-the-mill and standard Zorro movie co-produced by Spain/Italy and made in Paella/Spaghetti style

Below average story about the famous masked adventurer in Gazpacho/Macaroni Western style financed by Hispamer Films and Duca productions . This inferior Zorro with Spaghetti style is a mediocre adaptation inspired from Johnston McCulley character starred by Carlos Quiney as Antonio Sandoval / El Zorro (as Charles Quiney) , a dashing masked avenger. Here Quiney is a passable and really serious Zorro who takes on soldiers and felons . It deals with Arturo Sandoval who arrives in the little town , there lives the governor (José Jaspe) and his underling , a villain Coronel called Mauricio de Córdoba (Aldo Bufi Landi) who collects taxes and rents and murdering anybody who resists . As Arturo is really the masked avenger Zorro , relishing his secret identity , and falling in love for the governor's daughter (Maria Pia Conte) . Along the way , the Zorro fighting against the soldiers who harass the countryside people, as he intervenes and reunites forces to help unfortunates . Meanwhile , the nasty Coronel Mauricio de Córdoba (Aldo Bufi Landi) disguising as a fake Zorro commits rapage and killings and population blames the real Zorro . At the end takes place the classy confrontation by fencing between the good guy and the bad guy.

This Chorizo/Macaroni western film is filled with sword-play , thrills , go riding , shootouts , horse pursuits , excitement , twists and turns . Routine and inferior Spanish/Italian co-production stars Charles Quiney and regularly directed by José Luis Merino , made in tortilla/Pasta style . I think this La ultima aventura del Zorro (Spain) or Zorro il dominatore (Italy) or Zorro's Latest Adventure (United States) is the same as ¨El Zorro de Monterrey¨(1971) , and that's why the actors who intervene here are adequate to imbd list , however the film title that shows up at the beginning is ¨El Zorro de Monterrey¨. This is the thrilling story about the famous masked adventurer and in Gazpacho/Spaghetti Western wake . This so-so Zorro in Pasta style is a mediocre adaptation inspired from Johnston McCulley character starred by Charles Quiney as the dashing masked avenger . This Chorizo/Peperone Western is filled with fencing , thrills , intrigue and spectacular horse riding by Zorro . The noisy action is uniformly badly-made , with sad mood , especially deserving of mention some horse riding chases and the rip-roaring final scenes , though many of them are set at night and in poor ambient . And even rips-off and takes scenes from previous Zorros starred by Guy Stockwell and Tony Russell and directed by Ricardo Blasco . The synopsis sounds plain and simple enough with the traditional confrontation between the good guys and bad guys , a seriously ambiguous figure played by Charles Quiney and a contending rival performed by Aldo Bufi Landi as Coronel Mauricio de Córdoba . This Zorro was middlingly starred by Charles Quiney , he took a chance and jumped from warlike action ("Hell Commandos" , ¨When heroes die¨) and adventures (Tiger of Kyber , Robin Hood) to costumed Western and various Zorros , as Quiney played ¨Zorro De Monterrey¨, ¨Last adventure Zorro¨ . Quiney steals the show as absolute starring , playing a serious Zorro relishing his secret identity dressed in black ; as he throughly enjoys himself by bounds and leaps . He appeared almost exclusively in films for José Luis Merino and he was known as 'the Spanish Errol Flynn', playing Zorro in three films which were popular: La última aventura del Zorro (1969), El Zorro, caballero de la justicia (1971), and El Zorro de Monterrey (1971). Along with a lot of familiar faces , mainly Spanish , who played a lot of Spaghetti/Paella Western , Warlike or other subgenres , such as : José Jaspe , Aldo Bufi Landi , Santiago Rivero , Antonio Jiménez Escribano , María Salerno , Rafael Vaquero. And the Eurotrash gorgeous babe : the gorgeous Maria Pia Conte .

It packs a moving and thrilling musical score by Coriolano Gori , including some enjoyable sounds . As well as atmospheric cinematography by Emanuele Di Cola, giving a rather dark, sombre atmosphere , being really necessary a perfect remastering . Shot on location in Seseña , Toledo , Hoyo de Manzanares, Colmenar Viejo , Madrid, Spain. This mini-swahsbuckler motion picture was produced in low-budget by Sergio Newman who produced all kind of genres as Western : "Sheriff Won't Shoot¨ , ¨Oro Maldito¨ , Drama : ¨"Romeo e Giulietta" , Wartime : "Hell Commandos" , ¨When Heroes Die" and Adventure : ¨Il magnifico Aventuriero" , "Mission in Morocco¨ and two ¨Zorro¨ movies : ¨The sword of Zorro¨ and its sequel titled ¨Oath of the Zorro¨. This little European western was middlingly directed by Jose Luis Merino (born 1927 in Madrid, Died: 2019 , age 92) , providing a flawed movie but containing some surprisingly agreeable scenes . Merino usually worked in rather standard B-movie stuff , directing all kind of genres . Rating : 4.5/10.

This mini-swahsbuckler motion picture was produced by Sergio Newman who produced all kind of genres as Western : "Sheriff Won't Shoot¨ , ¨Oro Maldito¨ , Drama : ¨"Romeo e Giulietta" , Wartime : "Hell Commandos" , ¨When Heroes Die" and Adventure : ¨Il magnifico Aventuriero" , "Mission in Morocco¨ and two ¨Zorro¨ movies : ¨The sword of Zorro¨ and its sequel titled ¨Oath of the Zorro¨ also by Ricardo Blasco with Tony Russel , Maria Jose Alfonso , Sancho Gracia , Rosita Yarza , José María Seoane and again Agustin Gonzalez . The first Spanish/Italian Zorros were ¨Vengeance of Zorro¨ and ¨L'Ombra di Zorro¨ (1962) by Joaquin Marchent with Frank Latimore , Paul Piaget and Robert Hundar . Zorros's producer , Eduardo Manzanos , built a Western town in Hoyo De Manzanares (Madrid) , today disappeared , called ¨Golden City¨ where filmed several Western and various Zorros . Other Zorro filmed by that time are ¨Zorro all Corte di Spaña¨ (1963) by Luigi Capuano , ¨Zorro versus Maciste¨ by Umberto Lenzi with Pierre Brice Alan Steel , Moira Orfei ; ¨El Jiuramento Di Zorro¨ by Ricardo Blasco with Guy Stockwell and Mikaela ; ¨Zorro Il Ribelle¨ by Piero Pirotti with Howard Ross ; ¨Il Figlio Di Zorro¨ (1973) by Gianfranco Baldanello and two directed by Jose Luis Merino with Charles Quiney and Maria Pia Conte as ¨Zorro the rider of vendetta¨ and ¨Zorro of Monterrey ¨ .

The best Zorro are the following ones : The mute classic adaptation ¨Mark of Zorro¨ 1920, Fred Niblo , with Douglas Fairbanks, the classic ¨Mark of Zorro¨, 1940, Robert Mamoulian with Tyrone Power, Basil Rathbone and Linda Darnell, and followed by ¨The legend of Zorro¨ 2005, Martin Campbell again with Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones, Tony Amendola,Pedro Armendariz and Rufus Sewell . European version in similar style as ¨Le Tulipe Noie¨ (1964) with Alain Delon and Virna Lisi and ¨Zorro¨(1975, Duccio Tessari with Alain Delon, Octavia Piccolo and Stanley Baker .
