Justice has been delivered.

I must say, I could not stand Mencia or West before this episode, and they finally have been exposed for their indecency (literally grand theft, in Mencia's case). I really enjoyed the satire in this episode, and the intertextuality at the end was amazing. This is arguably the best episode in years, provided that you don't side with Kanye or Mencia. I wish I could post links to sites that relate to this episode, but I would recommend searching for Kanye West's self-proclaimed "genius" article, as well as his response on his online blog to the episode (he apologizes for being a giant douche). For Mencia, there are numerous YouTube videos giving evidence of him copying other material (Joe Rogan, Billy Cosby, etc, etc).

Greatest episode this season
shadow94611 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is filled with South Park at its best. Its pacing is perfect and jokes never get old (I'm looking at you, Eat Pray Queef). Kanye West and Carlos Mencia, who by the way caught me completely off guard, make perfect targets for this episode's subject. Cartman's character is described perfectly with his constantly altered memory of the writing of the joke; and Craig is becoming a more defined character in the series with his sensible outlook. The only problem I have with this episode is that it continues Kyle's 'nagging' character, which is honestly starting to get about as annoying as Lisa Simpson. This isn't a big deal, he only has a few lines. Oh, and the auto-tune joke at the end had me and my friend in stitches. A near-perfect South Park.

Gay Fish
RainDogJr9 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
After not being entirely satisfied with the South Park episode from last week I had a much better time with today's episode "Fishsticks"; it is basically a Cartman episode, showing more of the Cartman we all know and is pretty damn funny since at one point Craig will say to the boy that this time is involved with Cartman in some thing (Jimmy is that boy) something like "well you're lucky, Cartman is only asking for the half, just give him the half". Certainly Craig knows what Cartman can do, what may happen to you if you mess with Cartman (I'm remembering Scott Tenorman!) and we know Jimmy should listen to Craig if he doesn't want real problems. In the same scene Kyle (who else?) is like "Jimmy if Cartman doesn't deserves the credit just don't give it to him", so why there's something between Jimmy and Cartman? Well because Cartman did something that provoked he could not hang out with Stan and Kyle so he went to Jimmy's place, spend the time resting in the couch and eating stuff and helped Jimmy to write a joke, well not really but he was certainly part of the moment when a now classic joke was created, a joke that now even TV hosts uses, great joke, Cartman was there when Jimmy wrote it and certainly now he says he helped Jimmy but not only that.

Cartman, certainly, steals the show and at the end we can only say "well poor Jimmy, he was very unlucky when Cartman decided to spend some time with him". Jimmy will end saying "thanks" to Cartman since Cartman, who was p*ssed off with Jimmy since he said that he wrote the joke by himself, now understands that Jimmy's ego made him believe things happened differently, that Jimmy created mental images to make him part of things. During the episode we see Cartman's mental images of him writing the joke (and fighting Jew robots and being told by people that he is not fat at all!), certainly "Fishsticks" is another brilliantly hilarious Cartman episode. Oh and both Kanye West and Carlos Mencia complement this great episode, the first one don't getting Cartman's joke (yes in the end is his joke!) and the unfunny comedian, who has no d***, being f***** by Kanye West! Best of Season 13 so far.

-Hilarious:

I've been so lonely, girl I've been so sad and down Couldn't understand Why haters joked around I wanted to be free with other creatures like me And now I got my wish 'Cuz I know that I'm a gay fish

(Gay fish, yo) Mother f*****' gay fish (I'm a fish, yo) Girl I am a gay fish (it's alright, girl) Makin' love to other gay fish All those lonely nights At the grocery store In the frozen fish aisle Feeling like a whore 'Cuz I wasn't being true Even though everyone said That I had to make a switch (gay fish) Now I know that I'm a gay fish (Gay fish, yo) Mother f*****' gay fish (I'm a fish, yo) Girl I am a gay fish (Now where I belong, girl) Making love to other gay fish

I used to be scared, denying who I was Actin' straight, but then going' out to the gay fish clubs Dancin' with the marlins, makin' out with all the snappers I'd take a salmon home and work that caudal fin for hours But now I'm out and I'm free to love what I want Be it yellowfin or bass or that trout in Vermont I slap that marlin ass, make that grouper butt shake I'll come to your house and have an orgy in your mother f****** fish tank Mother f*****' gay fish (I'm a fish, yo) Girl I am a gay fish (Now where I belong, girl) Making love to other gay fish I really get around I'm a slut of the sea When I say I got crabs I mean it literally I was eating dinner And just had to go down On that mackerel on the dish 'Cus I'm the gayest of the gay fish Mother f*****' gay fish (I'm a fish, yo) Girl I am a gay fish (Now where I belong, girl) But I got to settle down I can't be a whore I ain't gonna just sleep With any fish no more Found me a lover A brother who's a cross-dressing pike named Trish And together we are gay fish Mother f*****' gay fish (I'm a fish, yo) Girl I am a gay fish (Now where I belong, girl) Making love to other gay fish

Who started the 'Fish-sticks' joke?
Tweekums3 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Cartman goes over to Jimmy's house he agrees to help him come up with some new jokes; this consists of him lying on the couch stuffing his face saying 'Nah' each time Jimmy suggests something. Eventually Jimmy comes up with a joke that makes him laugh. Cartman can't wait to try it out at school and soon the joke is spreading like wildfire eventually comedians on television are using it but nobody knows who originated it... apart from Jimmy and Cartman and the latter seems to think is role was greater than it actually was. And what is this joke you may ask; the gist of it is that if somebody likes fish-sticks (sounds like fish-dicks) they must be a gay fish. Everybody laughs because they get the joke; that is everybody apart from rapper and self-proclaimed genius Kanye West. He just doesn't get it and the more he doesn't get it the more people ask him if he likes fish-sticks! Eventually he thinks he has found the person who started the joke; a comedian called Carlos Mencia who claimed to have created it himself. Meanwhile back in South Park each time Cartman retells the story of how the joke came to be written his role gets bigger until Jimmy just happened to be there when Cartman created it then tried to steal it.

This episode was pretty funny; the central 'fish-stick' joke was genuinely amusing and became even funnier when Kanye West didn't get it. The subplot involving him and later Carlos Mencia was pretty funny even though I was not familiar with either of them when I first saw the episode... in fact I didn't even know Carlos Mencia was a real person! For me though the real highlight was the way Cartman's idea of what happened kept changing; in his psychotic little mind he really did come up with the joke!

Do you like Fishsticks?

Fishsticks is the newest episode of South Park. This one spoofs celebrities such as Carlos Mencia & Kanye West.Cartman and Timmy come up with a hilarious joke about fishsticks(which sounds like fish-dicks) and gay fish.Everyone starts using the joke and Cartman wants to cash in on it while Jimmy does not.Jimmy was the one who really came up with the joke, but Cartman believes that it is him who came up with it.Meanwhile, the joke is stolen by comedian Carlos Mencia, also everybody starts telling the joke to rapper Kanye West who cannot figure out why it's so funny and gets offended when people call him a gay fish. This episode was fairly funny and interesting.A bit better than the previous episode, I would say it's on par with "Margaritaville".

Pretty good episode with a great commentary
egunderson2411 August 2019
My original review was a 6/10 saying that the commentary was great but the comedy was repetitive. Now I realize there's more layers to the comedy than just the one joke. It very quickly becomes a worldwide sensation which is pretty funny, and the fact that Kanye just can't get the joke is golden. And the ending was great, definitely the funniest part.

The episode shows how an ego can bend your view of reality, and I love the framing device of how Cartman's memory of the joke's creation gets more and more different as it goes on. They also parallel his ego with Kanye's which seems pretty legit. (Except one didn't turn a bully's parents into chili) Even Kanye himself said the episode was pretty funny, so to not take much offense means they did a good job. He even referenced it in a few songs. And it becomes even more relevant after the event of the more infamous moments of Kanye's ego like the 2009 VMA awards, after which they re aired the episode. It's probably one of the more well known episodes as it perfectly shows the ego of West and it has that classic joke.

Hey Members Do You Like FishSticks?
richenstony9 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
OK so , the latest episode southpark is called fishsticks , Jimmy was working on writing new comedy for his stand up and he comes up with a supposedly amazing joke , and cartman takes all the credit for it. The episode is bland to say the least , its pretty boring like i said in my last statement on the first episode of this season its going down hill and the writers cant think of anything good any more. Im totally giving up on southpark now , its not what it used to be , its lame boring and dull. If you have any respect for comedy as a whole , you will avoid this season and south park forever and start realising its time to move on from this once amazing comedy!
