Worst movie I've ever seen
sanonirosa6 March 2022
Not to be mean but like this movie sucked in every way. The scenes, the acting, the story plot.... It's something a beginner movie club can put together and I'm mad I wasted 30 minutes watching it thinking it was legit.

Avery's life sucks, so does this movie.

Happy I only watched the first 20 minutes of this movie. The dialogues the few there are just horrible, the acting or better the lack of acting painful to watch, much of this movie is in slow-motion and then not at least, the so many goofs in this movie. One could get the impression that the whole movie was a sixth grade school project.

Sooooo bad.

I wouldn't even call this a movie. More like a feature length first year student project edited on a phone. I can only assume this was a tax loss or else funded by a church or other agenda. Always suspicious when a film has reviews taring it 1/10 and also 10/10 almost like the film isn't the thing being reviewed; but the message? The dialogue, the acting and the cinematography are beyond awful. The story incomprehensible.

I'll go ahead and spoil this.

Warning: Spoilers
I found this film to be completely uninspiring. Very slow and not really much happening anywhere. The first half is mostly foreshadowing and a girl being sad about what happens before the movie even starts. Granted she has every reason to be sad as her parents are as well. It's not hard to tell what happened or why she is sad once you start watching.

Suddenly her parents go away for a weekend, during which she talks to a waiter at a restaurant and is instantly happy. Her parents return and are happy as well like the tragic event before the movie never happened. Then as if by magic she is no longer bullied and everyone is getting along great.

Spoiler! There is no box. There is most certainly a basement with what looks like a tesseract where she is magically transported somewhere, possibly an alternate universe, and she come face to face, in a sense, with another version of herself who tranforms into the main antagonist. The scene really doesn't make much sense but most the movie does not.

Unspoilerable.

It's like a group of high schoolers watched Neil Breen's 5 Feature Film Retrospective, and were inspired to make a movie of their own. Awesome! Wasn't "Twisted Pair" fun too?

Amazingly Inspiring Movie
ariannafox3 December 2022
This movie is everything you'd want a family movie to be: heartwarming, emotional, inspiring, and endearing. It has moments that will make you laugh, that will make you want to cry, and that will leave you wondering what will happen next. The actors are phenomenally natural, the cinematography is ambient and dramatic in all the best ways, the music is perfectly fitting for each scene, the dialogue shows so well the tension and resolve that the characters go through, and the message is wholesome and relevant to the struggles of so many people-young and old alike.

This is a clean movie for the whole family, and a movie that will inspire you that-just like Avery's-your future is what you make it. Will it be one of dispair, or one of hope? Choose wisely.

A Warriors Choice, Inspiring Movie
liorabelongstoyah5 December 2022
This is definitely a family movie with a good dialogue, and its clean. I see myself in Avery, when I was young, different, not always fitting in, and dealing with abuse doesn't help, BUT we are not all meant to fit in with the crowds, I have found in life, that those that are different & unique they are warriors, and fighters, on the inside, it just takes a little time for the warriors to arise in them. We find ourselves having to make tough choices and sacrifices in life daily, as Avery did, making the right choices, will aid in achieving Greatness as I trust Avery will make the right choice! I recommend this movie for young, and old. Job well done!!

Good watch!
DeziGibson11 December 2022
I love how though the main character is a child the message reaches people of all ages. The power of choice, perspective, family, friendship, kindness, believing in yourself. This film has so many takeaways and the story line is a journey within itself. The camera work, sound and effects were great. What was most interesting to me is the backstory. The film started out as a short project but grew to a feature length film! The actors did great work! Lots of talent and even a few laughs. The ending was definitely not what I would have guessed! I thoroughly enjoyed and I think you all will as well!

Good storyline, good script, educative
augustinchiper4 December 2022
I enjoyed this film because it has a different perspective to look into family relationships and following it's action, you can get a new vision, useful in daily life.

Movies fall in different categories and we cannot say "This movie is better than the other" but is more useful to look at the message itself, promoted by every film.

Every movie is based on an initial ideea. This one has an educational and motivational purpose and it's not an "action style IronMan type action packed " film, but falls into more of educational and motivational stylle, inspired by real life.

However it does have its own good rhythm, suspense and it triggers Curiosity and Imagination at a better level than say "Guardians of the Galaxy", because here tgere is a family story and this is closer to real life, rather than some fake colored animals with wings and superpowers, that they eventually save the Earth. Lol.

The Box in The Basement is addressing intellectuals - that are able to understand psychology and also human relationships- also to everyone that understands this human relationships.

I strongly believe that a good film has a good ideea as its base, a realistic storyline, rather than just a simple action with colored fakebirds that can speak English.

Congratulations to the crew that made this film possible, for their efforts that they obviously put in it!

Is obvious that Mike Fox , the creator of this film, is a passionate and skilled person that he orchestrated its production out of his personal life experience and he wanted to bring to life a story with Meanings.

Making of a film at this level its a huge effort, impossible for many of us, especially when you are trying to bring to attention real life experiences and valuable ideeas.

I believe there is a reason for why The Box in The Basement has already won many Film Awards.

A movie about resolving anxiety and pain
rritzau-852961 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie follows the journey of a teenage girl who has detached herself from the ones close to her caused by burdens that she encountered. In pursuit of finding a resolve relationships are formed and strengthen her. This is a story many teenagers can relate to and the intentions of this movie are pure and geared towards an audience that needs to see that they aren't alone. There are plenty of laughs and moments of drama that keep the story moving forward. I hope that many can find this movie inspiring for their own journey they find themselves on. This isn't a big budged Hollywood movie, but it's made with passion for the craft and for the humanity of the story itself.
