Sussex based band take on this famous song originally by the USA band Dixie Chicks. originally based out of East Sussex, Astra went on to perform many gigs and concerts throughout 2011-2013. "I Can Love You Better" is a song written by Pamela Brown Hayes and Kostas, and recorded by American country music group Dixie Chicks. It was released in October 1997 as their debut single and the first from their album Wide Open Spaces, and was the first hit of the Natalie Maines era of the group. The song reached number 7 on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles & Tracks, and represented the group's first real commercial success.
Sandy and Leigh were formerly in a band known as Fragile Crocodile. A three pieced hard rock band.
Astra shot this film over two days at their rehearsal studio in Crowborough, East Sussex. Also some of the filming took place just outside in the rural locations. Principally the video was used for promotional reasons in gaining further live work, however this formation of the group were short lived. Ruth and Chris left sometime late in 2012 and the remainder of the band re-formed under the name J Bugz.
The band went into Russell Farm, Appleyard Studios in Robertsbridge, East Sussex in the summer of 2012 to record several tracks for promotional items. They then chose 'I Can Love You Better' as one of their better songs to represent the bands general 'folk/soft rock ' sound to make the video from. Guest lead guitarist was Dav Styles on these sessions.
