The heartbreaking story of a young girl and ballet dancers who obsess over their bodies is still relevant today. Young girls and even boys have become fixated on their bodies to obsession and even to the disease of anorexia nervosa and bulimia. There have been television movies and Karen Carpenter's tragic death as a result in 1982 brought attention to the disease. The Nova episode would be ideal for showing in middle and high schools especially for both students of both genders. The episode provided a harrowing and detailed look into their lives as they battle this deadly disease. The obsession in our culture for the perfect body has pushed millions over the edge.
