No original story line - a really bad copy of Shahrzad
sanamer12 May 2021
I gave it 5 stars because of the great end music (Homayoun Shajarian) and because of the cast (Dowlatshahi, Behdad, Karim, Sharifi, and, great performance of a few other actors like the character of Amoo Aslan). Otherwise, it wouldn't get even one star, because one main element of originality is completely missing. It is a copy and not even a half-smart one! It is a blunt copy! It has quite all elements of Shahrzad series. One can find a direct mapping among the main characters of the two. In addition, beyond the love triangle, other elements like the political mafia as well as the gang of drug dealers emphasize on lack of creativity of the script writer and director. Over all, I'd say it is a waste of time, unless one wants to enjoy the actors and actresses, and maybe if one misses Iran of 1980's.

So far decent

I have enjoyed this series so far it is very easy to get interested in. There are unexplainable things happening sometimes like some guy cam out of the dead. The actor choice is spot on but whoever picked Dolatshahi to play this role should fired instantly. The acting is also solid. The second subject is still keeping the series alive. It is annoyingly slow as well.

The name is the story.

This is one of the peak Iranian series that I've watched. It's on pair with Ghoorbaghe (Frog) which was also released earlier. They are both deep, dark and show the highest and lowest of human beings compact and living in symbiosis. Beautiful scripts and beautiful acting. A solid 10 out of 10.

Overrated

A low and shallow copy of Shahrzad. The dialogues are meaningless. The writers wanted to show off with deep and complex dialogues but it's just simply stupid and nonsense. I don't know why people praise this show too much!!

Captures and satisfies

This series is highly underrated. Perhaps because it's not your average melodrama filled with light hearted dialogues and fancy locations. On the contrary the characters are complex and have depth. The dialogues make you think and every word contributes to the unraveling plot with each episode.

The acting is to the point and fits the nostalgic setting and the brilliance of endless close ups and beautiful camera work that captures the raw emotions of the series' characters.

All in all this an outstanding piece of film making for home cinema and it was not made just to fill in your average afternoon but to capture and move it's audience.

Warning: Spoilers
I Want to Stay alive until the end of the seventh episode, it finished its Chinese introduction and went on to conceive of its original idea. The promising things about the series are still the same issues raised in the first three episodes, but after a few episodes, we can now better recognize the weaknesses of the series' narrative and directing. The logic of such a narrative in the inflamed atmosphere of the sixties, with all the conflicts that existed, is not correct. The fact that Homa easily enters Amir Shaygan's game and goes through everything remains incomprehensible due to the incorrect payment of the story. There have been stories and series in which a character like Homa has been forced to make a difficult decision, but we were with that decision and we have identified and understood with the main character, but here both Homa and his father surrender so easily that our company does not follow them.
