The opening of the fortune cookie in Michael Southfield's final speech was unrehearsed. Each take, Ken Jubie opened a different cookie and read what it said. The take featured in the short was the only one the crew got through without laughing.
Many Team Midas trademarks were established in this short. Producer Robert G. Del Greco appears but his face is obscured. The "Mom's Brand" is created that is used for the salad dressing. Fortune cookies also feature as props in other Team Midas shorts.
Bobby's music stand was intentionally chosen for the debate scene because it looked so pathetic next to Filmore's podium.
Jeff Saperstone plays both candidates' fathers in the short. He is young Bobby's TV dad in the 80's commercial and he plays the body of Filmore's father in the file footage.
