At the start of the show, Des talks about having done "six years" of the series, yet there was just over five years between the air date of this episode and Episode #1.1 (1977). However, as six individual series were completed in this time, it can be taken as Des talking figuratively, not literally.
Des says he believes that this is the first edition not to feature any female guests, but this also happened before in Episode #2.1 (1978) and Episode #2.4 (1978).
Many television programmes of the age, particularly on the UK's PAL system, suffered from distortion patterns with certain designs, such as striped shirts. These distortion, or "Moiré" patterns, can be seen in other episodes of Des O'Connor Tonight from the same period, and feature on this edition with Kelly Monteith's checked jacket.
