This episode is a return to form of the very best of Star Wars. While the gang is occupied with classic Clone Wars shenanigans (crashing a ship, finding a monster, etc.), the episode really shines with the other plot: Crosshair leading a group of new soldiers (the first stormtroopers?) into a morally corrupt situation. Watching them rebel, and then comply, seeing Tarkin planning, and the Kaminoans hatching a new plot are all what this show excels at. This episode makes me excited for the future of the show - and you've got to love that heartwarming ending.

Replacements
lassegalsgaard14 May 2021
One of the more interesting aspects of "The Bad Batch" is how it depicts the period where the Republic became the Empire and how everything carried over. The first episode did a great job of showing the leaderships thinking when it came to its military position, and if anything, that has been the thing that I've been looking most forward to seeing the progression of, aside from the main storyline with our heroes. Last week felt like a generic episode of these animated "Star Wars" shows (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and this week, we came back with a blast and with much greatness.
This episode is focused on two different storylines. On one hand, we have our main group and the development that's given to them and their relationship with Omega. I love seeing how this storyline progresses and seeing Omega becoming a more integral part of the team feels like it puts more at stake for the group, which is always potentially exciting. It definitely feels a little bit like filler at times but seeing how it gives a lot of time to her developing her skills as a unique clone trooper herself, I felt like it was worth it. The other part of this episode is dedicated to Crosshairs and his own development, while also giving time to the Empire and their own transitions. This was, by far, the best part of the episode, as we get to see the darker sides of these characters. Not only is Crosshairs one of the more interesting characters of the show, he's also slowly becoming one of my favorite clone characters in this universe. He's so loyal to the Empire that the gap between him and his former teammates becomes even wider and could lead up to some truly emotional moments to come later on. It also seems like they're really going to focus on the introduction of the stormtroopers and how that will leave Kamino, which is another exciting piece of galactic politics that I'm excited to see how it pans out. A lot of things were set up in this episode and I'm excited for it all.
"Replacements" is a really good episode that lays it all on the table and prepares the audience for what's to come. It looks like they're toying with the emotions of the different characters, and the idea of it all ending in a big explosive climax is something that's almost too good to wait for.

Omega and Crosshair set out to prove their worth

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty unexpected. I'll start with The Batch's story; damaged after their escape last episode, the team have to land the ship on a barren planet to replace a valuable part but when the part is stolen by a mysterious creature, Hunter and Omega have to track it down to reclaim the part in order to stay on the run. This was mostly run of the mill but it provided some valuable moments between Omega and Hunter as well as the rest of the team. Omega proves how resourceful she can be and why she is an official member of the Batch and we get a really sweet scene at the end of the episode, courtesy of Uncle Wrecker. The real star of this episode though, is Crosshair; in what we can only assume is the birth of what would become the Death Troopers, Crosshair is assigned a group of conscription soldiers to help him hunt down Saw Gerrera and his militia, they succeed but Saw is already long gone and we get one of the darkest moments in Star Wars when Crosshair orders his new squad to gun down a group of civilians, children included. It's an uncomfortable and harsh moment that really stands out among the crowd and proves that Crosshair has the potential to go on and be one of the greatest Star Wars villains of all time. Overall a pretty solid episode with one truly unforgettable moment. A decent 8/10 from me.
Yo, that was DARK!

A long time ago, there was a real sense of fear and threat in Star Wars, and here we are again in this chapter... Omega and Hunter's relationship continues to generate stronger ties, incredible what is transmitted between these two.
Half great, half ok

This was a really frustrating episode. On one hand, you have the storyline around the integration of stormtroopers with Crosshair taking a squad on a mission - this part is incredible. It recaptures the gritty, dark aspect of clone wars that we all loved, and teases some really cool ideas. That said, every time that storyline builds any momentum, we are pulled back to the other - on a desolate moon, omega, hunter and the others are trying to repair the ship while some random creature is mildly irritating. It's not awful (I actually think the work with omega and Hunter is a nice addition to the series) but it doesn't match the tone of the rest of the episode at all, and is generally quite boring. I'm starting to think Filoni has a thing for being stranded with some monsters while repairing a ship, given that this episode has effectively already happened in Clone Wars, Rebels and The Mandalorian. Overall, the episode was good, but frustrating because, had it focused on the stormstroopers idea, it could have been one of Filoni's best episodes in Star Wars to date.
Back on course

The Dark Side

This episode has much darker content as we see some pretty hard hitting scenes. Crosshair shows he is ruthless and without conscience as he leads a group of conscripted soldiers on a mission to wipe out supposed insurgents.
There is interesting stuff showing how Tarkin is leading the establishment of the Empire and wants to create a new army of soldiers without paying for continued Clone production. We see the Kaminoan's concern at this and there are seeds of interesting plot developments.
Quite slow burning but a very decent episode.
My rating: 8/10.

Omega doesn't fit.

The main story is familiar as it's the plot of many films. When this happens the characters become the main focus which is unfortunate as this episode is Omega prominent. The crosshair plot is by far the most interesting part and you can't help but want more which sucks whenever it goes back to Omega.
Yawn. One more like this and I give up

Man, that was dark! I'm looking forwards to the mature direction. I think I know what the writers are doing with Crosshair, maybe one of those badass villains. I am loving the team dynamic so far. Hunter feels like a dad for Omega. Great episode after all.
9/10.

Great episode, really liking how the "batch" evolves after meeting Omega!

I'm guessing the new troopers with Cross-hair is the squad from Battlefront 2's campaign? I think the woman with dark hair looks familiar. Cool little nod to the video games, after showing Cal (presumably) in the first episode.
What a rollercoaster

A filler episode to forget
entinezfx14 May 2021
The story in this episode could've been done in about 7 minutes. Uninteresting plot where they are stuck on the moon. Basically empire strikes back. However, the good part of this episode was crosshair's subplot. Really shows the darkness in the inhibitor chips and will make you hate it even more. Omega gets more annoying every episode, could've done without her.
Interesting episode

Standard Disney series Filler
jwhite8014 May 2021
Half expected this from Disney, 3 weeks in and the episodes are getting shorter and shorter. Not sure why they don't have a consistent length on each episode and why they don't just drop the full season not just the bad batch but all their content like Amazon and Netflix. Anyway, 7 day wait now till another filler episode.
Good

This episode certainly had a darker tone running on the background. And crosshairs is certainly evil now. Even with the chip. It's great to see the phasing into stormtroopers and how they think the clones can help the empire even as they vanish from the universe. As for the bad batch they can't catch a break. Crashing and getting stuck. But a brilliant chance for omega to develop. She is truly a valuable member of the squad.
8/10

Agree with the user better than 2nd episode, can't touch the 1st episode. Whoever thinks Omega is not a GREAT character doesn't get the Star Wars lore. My thoughts are this, she is either force sensitive/clairvoyant or some other 'enhanced' characteristic that we ALL or going to be shocked she has!
Everyone seems to love Crosshair, still don't see it, Yes, do I feel sorry for him with his 'enhanced' inhibitor chip? Yes I do, but that doesn't make him the best character on this show.
Do I believe he will come back to Bad Batch? Yes I do, have to wait and see. I am very interested in the Kaminoans and their new plan for clones, who is the donor that they speak of? Can't wait for that name drop!

WOW... this is a dark episode. I love this series, and am so happy to see Dave Filoni to continue to be amazing at his job. Omega is proving to be an interesting enough character, and I'm really interested to see what the kaminonas are up too. Sad to see Tarkin go
