Dr Jeong-Soo Han discovers that his patient is hyperglycaemic (too MUCH sugar in the blood) because she has diabetes which has not yet been identified. He intends to treat this by administering glucose, which would make the condition even worse. The correct treatment would be insulin to reduce the blood sugar level. Glucose is only correct for treating hypoglycaemia (too LITTLE blood sugar) when a patient has taken too much insulin. Doctors who treat diabetes take scrupulous care to distinguish between the similar-sounding prefixes hyper (too much) and hypo (too little).
