Episode 3

By Episode 3, Sunny Khan has had enough of Jessie James's aloofness and rudeness. He goes to his superiors to make a complaint.

I guess from now on, the only way is up. DCI James sends Sunny to Paris to interview a potential lead. He can see the white of their eyes. Noting how Sunny can judge whether people are hiding something.

DCI James ups her game by going to see Lord Tony Hume and not being convinced by him.

She also talks to Ebele Falade and builds up a picture of her dead daughter. Especially how Precious got involved with a cult when she was still a teenager.

The episode ends with more links made between some of the main characters.

I do think that the introduction of a new main character has slowed down the pace a little. So far the series has been intriguing but slow going.

An improvement.

Jess and Sunny finally start to make progress, but their relationship is still fractious. Sunny heads to France to deal with the man, who was perhaps the last person to see the victim alive. Jess deals with Lord Hume.

This was definitely better, there was a little more going on, finally we got to see Jess doing a little bit of work, not just stood around taking phone calls.

I think the first episodes were just too slow, Jess carped on about glacial pace, she was not wrong, that is exactly how it's felt, but maybe this is the turning point, this was marginally better.

One issue, the cliché of the Tory MP, what a surprise to have a mature Tory MP, who's obviously a no good monster, trying to make amends by doing charity work.

Sal's story was definitely interesting and heartbreaking in equal measure.

Better.

7/10.
