Very Good Episode
frankjosephsaraceno15 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Too bad people are so triggered by a show with a point of view. Sorry if important issues are too much for you to handle. The familiar and tired "leftist propaganda" mentions are tedious and mean nothing. This show has always been rooted in strong character development. Losing Dr. Kapoor was a sad storyline but one we all saw coming. Anupam Kher's wife is dealing with a serious health issue, so he had to bow out. He will he missed.

What's with the recent episodes? Why you always made Max look like the bad guy?

I am sorry to hear of the departure of Anupam Kher. I will miss the lovely character and terrific acting. I am particularly sorry for the reason he left the show. Best wishes to his family.

Whoever does the research on that program should stop getting their facts from Facebook.

The heck

As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The fact that they added someone who's on a mission, but not wearing a suit or tag. I love this show but this episode is all wrong.

ANOTHER, excellent episode!

It's been so refreshing to see "Art imitating LIFE" with this TV show and many others. It would be unrealistic to not draw attention to these critically important socio-cultural, economic, & racial justice issues that plague our society! Acting & shows that address KNOWN health disparities, isn't being "WOKE" or "left leaning!" Health disparities affect everyone, regardless of POLITICS! Keep it up, writers. People are really telling on themselves with all of these low ratings & negative comments!

Wokeness = Ignorance???
joebeatty1313 January 2023
So much for educated writing and wokeness and leftism, etc.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is very open about their teachings and practices and beliefs, yet it appears no one did any research except for probably watching South Park or going to other Churches and their leaders on what they think the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints actually teach!

There's a Temple in Manhattan and the Missionaries are everywhere in the city! I served my Mission there, so I know this for a fact!

NBC and the shows writers and directors and producers should issue a formal apology for how they portrayed the Religion! This was wrong on so many levels!!!

You guys are pathetic. The show is talking about important issues that don't concern straight, white people only. If that bothers you, which it seems to be bothering a lot of you, then stop watching. Go find a show that aligns with your terrible views. You won't be missed. And you don't have to tell us you're leaving, just go.

Best Episode So Far
shortpuppy16 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Continuing it's practice of including important current tops of concern, 1 of the main storyline in this episode focused on the gay blood ban. (i'll never forget being denied participation in a blood drive to honor the passing of a coworker's young cousin.) One of the men in this storyline was portrayed by Andre De Shields, a stunning, distinguished man, who it so happens has been HIV+ for 30 years. The man he portrays had been a very active member of ACT UP, and act up he did. And that dovetails in nicely to the storyline of present.

There is another gay storyline in this episode that refers to the Mormon church's publicly stated policy of banning openly LGBT clergy. This set off some viewers for some reason, who posted a slew of 1&2 star reviews. Similar to when the excellent movie The Promise was flooded with low ratings from Armenian Genocide deniers. They used to have separate discussion forums where people could state such concerns, without dragging down the ratings of a film due to political concerns.

***BIG SPOILER*** The only disappointment to this episode was the apparent 'retirement' of Dr. Kapoor, prolly my fave character. I'm hoping they will reverse this. But from Anupam Kher's bio. He's very busy with other projects. So good for him, bad for me. :<)

Tolerance
tracyleeroberts16 April 2021
It's to bad that the writers of this "Medical" drama series are ignorant in their facts. I have seen many times how they have gotten medical terms wrong, but to slaughter how a religious organization works and their beliefs shows thier lack of information, knowledge, and prejudice. Their trying to tout tolerance, but disregard religious tolerance. It's to bad, I loved the first 2 seasons of this series. Time to find new medical drams to watch.

You got something wrong
juliasalemme30 April 2021
I enjoy your show and I love the direction this season went with addressing hard hitting issues. I was disappointed and frustrated writing concerning the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint storyline. The writers got just about everything wrong with that. For a team who seems to be trying to put hard real issues out there for people to think about, spreading misinformation about this faith seems contradictory and almost like an intentional attack. I hope it was just lazy writing and not purposeful. That was really hard to stomach and almost makes me not want to watch the show anymore.

Very disappointed
kathrynmorris-7789425 April 2021
I love medical dramas. And I've been pretty happy so far with New Amsterdam. But this episode alone has made me so angry! The way the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was portrayed was wrong in so many ways. I kept having to stop and rewind, because I was flabbergasted at what I was seeing. If you want to include a religion, make sure you cover all your bases and portray it correctly. The Book of Mormon musical wasn't the correct material to base the story off of. Just saying. And now I don't know when I'll want to watch another episode.

This episode deserves a zero rating
jimanie16 April 2021
This used to be one of my favorite shows but I will not be watching it again. Get a grip on what you're doing. Every week it gets worse and worse with your stupid preaching to the audiences of all kinds of miss information. I'm really tired of it.

Frustratingly poor accuracy
matthudrlik15 April 2021
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I really take issue with this. It's one thing if you even try to get stuff marginally correct, but when you just blatantly make stuff up it's painful to watch.

As another person pointed out all the "fixes" to inaccuracies, I'd go a step further and say that other than calling the church by its full name instead of "Mormons" there wasn't anything correct in regards to that plot line.

Religious views matter?
lrobins-6835824 April 2021
Been a huge fan of this show since day 1. But as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I refuse to watch a show that thinks it's ok to make up by facts and to smear the church on tv. They are trying to preach tolerance but refuse to be tolerant of religious views. Writers need to get their facts straight before you talk blatant lies on tv. So frustrating.

About to dump this show
FieryMaid24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Please, please, be an example of the good you want to be in the world. Be informed, check your facts, and do not be an example of what you are preaching against. Last week you promoted racism while preaching against racism. Now you are preaching tolerance while not being tolerant AND preaching being informed while not being informed.

If you agree that people should be allowed to live how they want, and be who they want to be, and that people can change, then how can you discriminate against religions? If people can change their biological sex, and change their biological hormones, and change all kinds of things about them, then how come they can't change their behavior? If we can allow people to refuse treatment for their cancer or other conditions, then why laying on judgement regarding a person's life choice of religion when all should accept other life choices? Please be what you preach! Do not try to dictate which life choices are ok and which aren't. Just stop. Be the example of tolerance you are preaching.

And please, please, inform yourselves. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not require members to be married, and absolutely does not require people to "try" a heterosexual marriage if they do not think that is possible. Furthermore, a marriage is not just for children. Children are not a "cornerstone" of the religion. Eternal families are. The Church believes that we are ALL God's family, and we do not need to have children of our own to be a part of God's family, we already are.

Please, please, be what you preach. I loved this show from the beginning. I watched this show from the beginning. And I know this show wants to be an example, I know this show wants to promote good, but you aren't. You are promoting different prejudices and different biases while trying to wipe them out. Please, please, FIX THIS.

Embarrassed for the writers
allisonmudliar7 February 2023
This was my favorite show...until this episode.

It was comical how wrong the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was portrayed. I promise you there was not one accurate point. We don't wear cross necklaces. The men who supervise missions are called "President" not "Elder." The lingo and affect shown and things spoken of are not correct at all. Yes - there is controversy and turmoil surrounding LGBTQ issues, but this episode didn't even portray that turmoil in an accurate manner. In a time when it is so easy to research and get to know a religion and its people I am flabbergasted at how wrong this show got it. The credibility of this show just took a deeeeeeeep dive in my opinion. Could you not have done any better? Shaking my head...

Worst Episode
ispendmoney15 March 2023
I wish Iggy's harassing phone calls that border on abusive demands were the worst part of this episode. There's no way a mental health professional would make phone calls like that. The Mormon leader piece was shallow - felt forced with no character development. And if someone, like the LDS missionary, doesn't wasn't their sexuality to be their defining identity how dare someone, like Bloom, think she gets to deny a person's self-understanding and self-determination. This came across as a stereotypical, white, progressive showing up to override the personal, religious, and sexual choices of a person of color.
