A horse stands in a large box, which is lifted by a crane towards a ship in harbor.
Sometimes the early actualities that made up most of the movies before the 20th century are interesting because they show the audience, more than a century later, how things were done way back when. This is one of those movies, and although other methods may ave been in use -- like simply leading a horse up a gangplank into a ship -- this industrial technology applied to living animals is worth looking at.
As usual with Lumiere films, the composition is excellent, and the way the box with the horse in it moves is well conceived.
