Best episode since the premiere !
tristan_1911 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Seeing Wrecker in full force, under the influence of the chip, was truly scary. I was worried there for a second. The mission also felt really natural in this one, as the chips had to be removed at all costs anyway. No sidetrack to xyz planet. Just effectiveness. We also get to see Rex !

  • Mention of Fives ? Check !

  • Mention of the Empire and finally a good cliffhanger ? Check !

  • Wrecker getting to show more toned down emotions, in absolute subtlety ? Check !

Great Episode
nathanhalliday-1308911 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Easily the best episode of the series so far besides the premiere. After a few filler episodes finally we're back on track with the return of Rex, and Wrecker's inhibitor chip activating leading to some intense scenes. Still no Crosshair but I imagine we'll be seeing him soon now that the Empire will know where they are. Also some great callbacks to other pieces of Star Wars media like the planet Bracca which is where Cal Kestis is hiding on at the start of Jedi: Fallen Order and a Dianoga (the creature in the trash compactor in A New Hope) lurking among the sewage in the Venator.

Finally not just fillers!
ha77y73ad9711 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a few fillers we've finally got something to get our teeth into, Rex has finally turned up and filling in the team with the final moments of the Season 7 arc. As the Martez were in contact this still leaves the question on who they are working for and why they needed the data from the tactical droid!

With Rex knowing about the Inhibitor chips and what they can do the conversation between the team and him on why they havnet removed them yet is another triumph in writing dialogue to out shine any action that could have taken place. And here starts the next mission. Seeing the Phase II clone amour on Rex is always a great sight along with the Republic Y wing making a small appearance leaving another open question, where is Ahsoka?

Not sure if this is the same planet that starts Cal Kestis' journey off in fallen order but sure looks like it! With the Scrapper guild operating on the planet im 90% sure of it. But a Water dwelling Sarlac shows they can live on and in all planets habitats. After reaching the med bay it seems like such a throw away comment that Rex mentions that very few clones were immune from order 66 maybe pointing towards him already knowing about Gregor and Wolffe. As what was hinted at in the last episode come true, we see wrecker turn just like crosshairs. Never thought the simple mind of a clone would be such and imposing figure and a menace from the team.

With that ending we maybe in for a baster firing reunion as well!

Finally, the plot is thickening
joshcowham11 June 2021
This was by far the best episode since the Premiere, aside from Crosshair vs Rebels. Dark Star Wars is the best Star Wars. Hopefully no more filler now.

Warning: Spoilers
It's amazing dude seeing Rex was awesome I hope we get to see Gregor and Wolffe's chips removed as well but we know it did not happen yet because Rex said he did not remove anyone else's chips yet and I love Omega's and Wreckers relationship I hope we get to see Omega's power if she has one and maybe we can get a little Cal cameo in the next episode.

Absolutely amazing Warning: Spoilers
Its the best episode since the first one and really made me excited. When Rex appeared I was completely hooked to the episode. It connects nostalgia (Rex who also talks about Fives) with huge excitement for new episodes. Seeing Wrecker execute Order 66 also was so scary and exciting. The cliffhanger at the end also makes me want to see more. Finally an episode that is no filler.

Loved it. The atmosphere of the star destroyer wreckage. The somber tone from Rex with the references to Ahsoka. Almost as good as the last 4 from season 7. Exceptional work from Dave and co.

A typical episode; but you know who is in it.
isaactheanimator11 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was okay. It did bring me back to Episode 2 of the series than any other filler episode because the episode was more dialogue and character based; but the major aspects of this episode didn't hit all that hard for me. Wrecker's chip felt very anti-climatic. I thought for the whole time they kept on showcasing his headache they were really gonna set a different course for the character. Like have him against the others for the rest of the show or he literally dies; but now looking back it feels rather cheap and unnecessary considering now it's just used for a filler action sequence. Rex was also just... there. He just gives a lot of exposition to what happened in Siege of Mandalore, and he takes the clone's chips out (which imho now just diminishes the stakes of what could happen to these clones than the stakes were already set on a static 'wait til the end' line.) But I honestly don't get much of what he did here. He seemed like you could switch him with any other clone and it wouldn't make a difference. He was a simple plot device to get the characters from Plot A to Plot B as I was expecting in the way this and Mandalorian have expressed the 'go to planet do some shit and leave' formula. Nothing feels like a progression; if all these characters just out of nowhere died at the end I wouldn't be shocked or wanting to see that. Because this is a mediocre, dragging lackluster adventure. Nobody is really doing anything. This show isn't making me feel like these characters aren't likely to survive especially cause this series is tonally down for children. And it's been too many episodes after we haven't seen Crosshair and we still didn't??? Not only is this just an average Clone Wars arc stretched in 16 episodes. It doesn't even try to make the best of it. Every character who meets the Bad Batch always tells them the exact same thing. "We all have to fight back for a purpose" like there's no diverse conception or perspective of the universe. Everyone is structured the same way and this is the problem with the Disney SW universe. It's so stale and has a formulaic approach to everything it touches. I really wish we would've gotten to see a raw progression of how the clones try to hide from the Empire by traveling through rarer places in the galaxy. But they don't make me see the sentence I just said before. They make me see Rebels and Mandalorian again disguised in a Clone Wars spinoff series. And I honestly think Rebels is somewhat a better written series than this because Rebels at least had a more narrative structure. This barely has one. After the first 2 episodes it suddenly stopped knowing where to go and the types of non-filler we get to afterwards is boring. I'm not liking a lot of the characters either. Wrecker now seems to be the dumb comic relief I admired for not being too much of before when he gave a fair share of competency in his team. And Hunter and Echo are pretty generic as just average personified clone troopers. Tech I still kinda like and some with Crosshair but we never see him for more than 2 episodes tho. Because the series backs away from interesting stuff when it doesn't know how to tell stories around them. I'm being so honest with the show as I can. I keep coming back sticking around for more but I don't think I can all that much. Star Wars used to be this thing that wakes me up in bed whenever a new film/TV show would come out and I would stick by it. But it barely has that sort of reason for me anymore. And I still get up anyway because I'm nostalgically tied to it no matter what. But this gives me less of a reason to. I feel for every time there's a potential good story inside something, things like Lucasfilm Animation tend to ignore said potential and go with the safer latter. And I can't really find any sort of current Lucasfilm project that doesn't do that (except some comics I read and that LEGO cartoon series I surprisingly liked as a guilty pleasure) Right now I'm just not feeling it. I wish I can be excited for something again.

Battle Scars
lassegalsgaard12 June 2021
This episode didn't spare any expense at all. The last few weeks have been entertaining to a degree but have felt kinda hollow in regard to development of the characters and the storyline. For this week's episode, the writers finally decided that it was time to move on a little bit, and for that, they introduced a fan favorite character from previous shows, a great plot to get them to a certain place that has been explored in canon, and just a whole lotta fun to pull in the audience. This was a great episode and one of the very best since the show's premiere.

Many have been quick to label a lot of previous episodes filler. I don't think that's completely fair as last episode was necessary to get to this. The last episode ended with a great tease and the writers didn't wait to answer the question asked there. They got right into it here with introducing this character. His connection to the group made it the perfect opportunity to explore his reaction to their immunity to the inhibitor chips and it made for a great adventure to get rid of them once and for all. It's a basic storyline, but it explored some darker depths to these characters than we've seen before, and the interesting thing that happened to Wrecker in the last episode comes to play in this, which I also loved. There were some great moments of action with all of them getting the opportunity to shine through a little bit. This was probably the least Omega-focused episode of the show so far, and I didn't mind that they took a break from setting her up. She's been giving the most development out of any of them, so it only seems fair to give a bit of a backseat in this. It also leaves some questions for next week's episode, but if this goes the way I think it will, we're in for a huge action thrill next week, and one that I have been anticipating for some time now. I'm a big fan of where the show is heading and I'm eagerly awaiting more.

"Battle Scars" is the best episode of the show since the premiere. It had a big emotional draw to it, and it shows why the lesser episodes are necessary to set these things up, so we don't have to do things too fast. It provided some great answers but asked some greater and fascinating questions.

Battle Scars

Warning: Spoilers
Best episode since the premier. Unlike the past few episodes, this one wasn't a filler. Sure we still haven't seen any Camino or Crosshair scenes in a while, but this episode didn't need any. This episode had an appearance from Rex! The Martez sisters, who turns out aren't going to be villains told Rex about clones that helped them in the last episode. Rex then tracked them down, and when he found out they all still had their inhibitor chips in, He told them they had to get them out. In the process of removing the chips, Wrecker finally snaps and becomes an Order 66 follower, he fought off all the clones, until he was almost about to attack Omega, but Rex stunned him with a blaster. Then the Bad Batch all had their chips removed. The episode hinted on a cliffhanger that indicates the Empire might soon be coming to put and end to the clones. I can't wait for episode 8!

How they showed Bracca was simply amazing, haunting atmosphere. Great visuals and sound which also would have worked perfectly without the return of Rex.

Best episode since the premiere.
corgiexe13 June 2021
Amidst this episode, the plot has finally come back to its roots in the premiere. "Battle Scars" encapsulated the tone that it was going for in episode one. It was dark, gritty, and I felt scared for some of the character's survival during this episode. I loved it. The mystery character reveal was not surprising to me. I am not complaining; their appearance mattered to the plot, the underlying objective of the episode, and the Bad Batch's future. It was meaningful. I'm just delighted this wasn't more filler, something that plagues Star Wars television. (Remember "The Gunslinger" in The Mandalorian?) Therefore I can only hope that the future episodes moving forward are just as meaningful as this one.

Wrecks
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic23 May 2022
This episode is much better than all the filler that had been produced in this series. There is finally some substance as we meet back up with a popular Clone Wars character and Wrecker's inhibitor chip causes problems amongst the wreckage of old starships they are traversing to get to a medical centre.

There is some depth and plenty of enjoyable stuff in this episode.

My rating: 8/10.

Agree with most of the reviews- Best ep. since opening night
hammerhead-dk11 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some of the subtleties of this episode are very much refreshing- The Y-Wing, (though I wish they would bring in the little used B-Wing). Had to mention that! As everyone else, I hope the next episode is full of action with the Guild contacting the Empire. Wouldn't that be something if, either Vader or Commander Cody was on the team to hunt them down?

Wrecker's and Omega's relationship is like a Uncle and favorite niece. Nice touch on some of the dark story lines like in Battle Scars.

I don't like Cid swindling Bad Batch, I hope they get a chance to turn the tables on her, because she is becoming very annoying.

Let's see what the Empire does in the next episode.

Lost Opportunity
groidmail19 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Great episode but would've loved if they failed to be able to find the chip and some young scrapper shows up and says "hey you guys aren't supposed to be here." Then the Wrecker grabs the scrapper and holds him hostage while they try to locate the chips. While they continue to fail to find the chips the scrapper takes off his mask and says he might be able to help. The young scrapper over hears their discussion and realizes what they're trying to do. He gets up and begins to use the force to locate the chips and get them removed. Welcome to the Filoni universe Cal Kestis. Still a great episode but was hoping my thoughts came true. Too bad they weren't able to shoe him in the next episode but again the show is still awesome.

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1 I gave a nine, and all episodes since I gave eights, some on the low end of eight. This however was a pleasant surprise the episode was far better than any others beside the first. A solid nine and I understand why some would give it a ten. I thought it was very atmospheric, and am hopeful that the next episode will be just as good, an episode where the main plot is advanced is far more interesting than the standard, visit planet, danger, leave plotline.

Warning: Spoilers
WE GOT OUR REX BACK! WOO-HOO! It's so great to have him back. I love the guy, probably my top three or five favorite Clone Wars character. He's so bad-ass and that sorts of stuff. Well, he's getting wrinkles now becoming Santa Claus in Rebels, lel. I honestly thought we were gonna lose Wrecker like he's a tough guy. How can you make him pass out? I was also surprised that the Bad Batch even didn't have their inhabitor chips removed, but at least they have it removed now. Damn Scrap troopers calling in the Empire to attack. I love Omega's moments with Wrecker, heartwarming.

I have two problems with this episode, I think it should have more action and be longer, but that's just me.

9/10.

Wreck this...

Warning: Spoilers
Definitely the best episode since the premiere. Seeing Wrecker trying to execute Order 66 was actually pretty gripping. I had not run into any spoilers for this show so I genuinely didn't know if they'd end up having to kill him or leave him behind (although I figured they wouldn't in the end). I also loved seeing Rex again. Hopefully we see more of him in the future. Great episode.

Warning: Spoilers
After the premiere, the Bad Batch's plot has thinned every episode with maybe the exception of Replacements that gave us another dive into the steadily declining mind of Crosshair but Battle Scars brings back classic Clone Wars alum and fan favourite, Captain Rex and the results are more than welcome. This episode feels important and the animation itself is top notch along with pretty much every aspect. A strong 8 on this one. Certainly the right direction.
