- Wells tries to make Picard and Guinan confess to being aliens. Wells believes that the aliens are trying to sabotage the Europa mission. But Wells is conducting an "off the books" investigation in a basement. It is not officially sanctioned. Wells has images of Picard at the Europa gala and is convinced about his theory. Picard is afraid that if the FBI believes that aliens are trying to sabotage the launch, they will simply scrub the mission. Picard and his crew would have been directly responsible for the one thing that they came to avoid.
Wells knows that Rios was processed by ICE before he escaped. He also found a communicator at the clinic, which belonged to Rios.
Wells separates Picard & Guinan. Wells interrogates Picard and threatens torture. Guinan is visited by Q who explains that he is dying. Q's are supposed to be immortal, but now for the first time, Q cant see beyond the time horizon, and is afraid. The "trial" is a final attempt to give his own life meaning. He notes that all humans are stuck in the past. Q asserts that he didn't bring Picard to the past, and it is the escape that will count. Guinan uses astral projection to share this message with Picard.
Picard tries to understand where Wells is stuck in his own past. Wells reveals that he encountered aliens when he was a child and thought they wanted to kill him. Picard explains that these were Vulcans who only tried to erase his memories. Picard reveals that he is human and is from the future. He is in the 21st century to save the entire Galaxy.
Wells is forced to release Picard and Guinan after the FBI dismisses him for conducting an illegal investigation.
Raffi and Seven continue to update Rios about their progress. Rios is on the La Sirena with Teresa and her child. Raffi and Seven continue to track the Queen and find that she has been having trouble assimilating new beings into the Borg collective. They find a trail of dead bodies across LA, of people who Jurati tried to assimilate and failed. Raffi and Seven find the Queen collecting car and phone batteries to modify Jurati's body and make it capable of assimilation. Car and phone batteries have Lithium, which is a stabilizing metal. The Borg inject bodies with Lithium to stabilize them after Assimilation so that the body can handle the Nanoprobes. The Borg Queen attacks Raffi & Seven, but Agnes is still in there somewhere, & is able to force the Borg Queen to stop and leave. Raffi and Seven realize that Agnes's conscious is still in there somewhere. Raffi saw Elnor as a son, and hence was livid at the loss of his life.
After learning about her true nature, Kore leaves her father with help from Q. Kore realizes that she is an experiment, a clone. Q sends Kore a vial of the cure, which allows her to survive in the open air and sun. Kore injects it and confronts Soong. Soong admits that he created many clones before Kore, who progressively lived longer. Kore was supposed to die at the age of 6 but survived. Kore realizes that Soong only loves his work. Kore leaves, as Soong threatens that she cannot exist independently.
Teresa starts to develop feelings for Rios. Rios finds out that the transporter is deeply encoded in Borg codes. He communicates the same to Raffi and Seven.
The Queen reaches Soong's house & she persuades Soong that he can save his legacy by helping her steal La Sirena, thereby enabling her to conquer the galaxy. The Queen convinces Soong that by helping her destroy Renee's mission, humanity will continue their ecological free-fall. They will eventually turn to Soong and cement his legacy. If Renee goes on her mission, she will make a discovery that will make his work obsolete and Soong would be lost in the pages of history.
Raffi and Seven meet Picard at Guinan's bar and convey that the Borg Queen is alive in Jurati and will try to take over the ship, which is why she has encoded the transporter. Picard decides to use Tallinn's transporter to get to the La Sirena. They need the ship to get back to their own time-line.
Soong provides her with a squad of mercenaries to convert into Borg drones.
