This was a gripping watch.

Helen is terrified at the thought of meeting Dale's mum, and spending The Easter weekend with her. Dale is in the right place, at the right time to land a big scoop.

Best episode to date, this was an action packed, explosive episode, with a great deal of content, some truly interesting character development for both Helen and Dale. I enjoyed Helen's scenes with Dale's mum, meeting the rents can be terrifying, and also an unexpected turn in the story of Tim's obsession with Dale.

Geoff's wife, talk about pushy, she has The Lady Macbeth thing going on, she's the one that secretly seems to be the power behind the throne, Geoff's fate seemed to be cemented.

The scenes of the carnage and fallout looked incredible, really well realised.

Best episode so far, 9/10.

Wasn't that a blast?

Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts slow and rather dull. Helen is panicking at the upcoming meal with Dale and his mother. The news room are preparing items about a British royal wedding: Fergie and Andrew. As a Brit I wasn't the least interested in the wedding and found the items being prepared rather amusing and inept. A bar was offering a Fergie cocktail and a Diana cocktail.

Rob, Dale and the camera team head off to film a report. Once filmed Rob heads back to the newsroom leaving the others filming inserts. So far, rather silly.

And then everything changes. As the 'Storyline' reveals, a bomb goes off at the Russell Street Police Station. Dale posts live reports which are brilliantly staged.

As a Brit, I had to look up the bombing and found out that it did happen.

This is developing into an excellent unmissable series.

A Step Closer to the Madness

Warning: Spoilers
So far The Newsreader has used international events to be weaved into the stories.

It did mean that you could guess the Chamberlain interview will never take place unless lots of liberties are taken when real people are still around.

The Russell Street bombing was an event I knew nothing about until this episode.

Until then I thought the backdrop would be Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's upcoming wedding. The news team were already making comparisons between Fergie and Lady Di.

Then a breaking news event happens. It gives Dale an opportunity to shine while his mother is visiting the newsroom.

It ends with Dale being conflicted about his sexuality. His realisation that his relationship with Helen is a non starter.

Other members of the newsroom are working as a team, allowing others to step up.

For Geoff Walters it could be the end of the road, ill health has afflicted him. However his wife steps up, ringing up a newspaper to make sure his job is safe. Smart move from a smart lady.

Another good episode but I do think that some of the hairstyles and fashion do not scream mid 1980s to me. Also using the term Ground Zero seemed inappropriate.
