Knee-jerk reviews
j-libran2 May 2022
Getting pretty tired of seeing decent or even outright fantastic episodes get automatically dumped on by imdb reviewers (many of whom didn't actually watch.) The episode was plenty fun and I'm glad we finally got to see a little more of the fairly obscured Chalmers family life.

Fun episode, don't listen to bitter old "fans"
netflixnkill5 May 2022
Imagine hanging on to a show you clearly haven't connected with for decades still hoping it fulfills some nostalgic attachment to your far gone childhood. It's actually entertaining week after week watching old fans work overtime finding anything to complain about every new episode ...not to mention the crowd who will blindly follow along with any ol popular opinion.

Fortunately I'm not looking for 90s television feel in a 2022 series. This episode was great to me and on theme with this season exploring side characters and their emotional depth, funny b plot also. Makes sense that Chalmers picks on Skinner at work because he has no control at home.

People need to let it go, criticism is fine but you all are so obsessed with the past version of this show that you can't even enjoy any new content through clear unbiased eyes.

It's nice to see a good band episode
jamesurech11 October 2022
With so many characters, The Simpsons has an almost endless amount of character combinations they can bring to its stories. I don't think people asked for the pairings in this episode (Homer/Chalmers and Lisa/Shauna), but it works quite well.

As a band person, I also greatly appreciate the inclusion of the full marching band as a part of the episode. The sound team did a really good job using the sound of real Tenor Drums for when Shauna played, although they are not animated correctly (which is something you only expect from movies, really). No well-balanced marching band would have more Tenors than Snares, either, but I'm just nitpicking at this point.

The plot of the episode itself is rather enjoyable, and although the writing is mediocre at times, there are enough good jokes and interesting situations to keep you going. The theme about the older kids and their influence on younger kids also hit home for me.

A good plot, good characters, and a lot of charm, if you haven't given The Simpsons a shot in a while, you should put this one on.

Worst season ever!

Terrible series.

In fact - how many episodes can you have with Liza? Already sick of this saxophone! Where are the funny adventures of Homer and Bart? Why is the whole season around Lisa? Worst season ever!

Yet another Simpsons character has gone too downhill
3HK2 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, just wow. I honestly can't believe the magnitude in regards to how Superintendent Chalmers went VERY downhill in this episode. In the early seasons he used to be a likeable character, but now in THIS episode he's barely even recognisable, he's gone that bad. It's a real shame.

Today it was Superintendent Chalmers who died as a recognisable character that we all used to know and love. Who's up next in the next episode? I wouldn't want to know.

totally unfunny

2nd worst episode ever and the other one was in this series too ( the musical one earlier) . It just did not make me laugh once. Looks like The simpsons has finally jumped the shark.

Girls Just Shauna Have Fun
studioAT8 October 2023
I think your enjoyment of this episode comes down to whether you find the character of Shauna annoying or not.

I find her very annoying, and that meant this episode suffered in terms of my rating.

'The Simpsons' has done this a couple of times in its 33rd series - try to flesh out side characters who perhaps are better in smaller doses, or used just when a joke is needed. I don't think I really needed to see some if any character development where Shauna was concerned, and this combined with the pretty far-fetched premise, didn't make this one of the better 33rd series episodes for me.

It's perfectly fine, but forgettable.

Horrible
samgloster2 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Horrible, just plain horrible. Its ok not be funny, but its not ok to be disgusting. Normalizing the way Shauna was treating her father, that wrong. And what was the ending supposed to mean, with Homer dreaming of watching Marge making out with a wolf. That's just sick.

Not to mention the quality is going downhill in terms of comedy but at least TRY to keep the original concept alive. I don't know if there has been a dramatic change in the team of writers or the writers have specifically been asked to make the episodes disappointing.

This I feel is the second worst episode ever. I am not saying second worst in terms of comedy, there have been plentiful lately. But this one is bad on another level.
