Cineflix Productions has promoted executive producer Jeff Vanderwal to VP, scripted, reporting into J.C. Mills, president and head of content.
Based in Toronto, Vanderwal sources, develops and oversees the production of scripted series and movies for the division. Since moving to the scripted team in 2018, Vanderwal has developed and produced a range of projects including Canadian Screen Awards -winning “I Was Lorena Bobbitt” and “Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey,” along with crime thrillers “Stolen by Their Father” and “Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story.”
Vanderwal also produced music-based holiday movies “Undercover Holiday” for Hallmark Channel and Lifetime’s “Miracle in Motor City,” starring Tia Mowry and Motown legend Smokey Robinson. Vanderwal’s latest movie “Bad Behind Bars: Jodi Aria” recently premiered on Lifetime in the U.S. and Canada. He is currently developing a crime series based on the acclaimed Wakeland novels by Vancouver author Sam Wiebe.

Exclusive: Lifetime has given a green light to The Good Father: The Martin MacNeill Story, its latest ripped from the headlines original movie, starring Tom Everett Scott (13 Reasons Why), Anwen O’Driscoll (Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story) and Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) from executive producer Nancy Grace.
The Good Father is based on the true story of Dr. Martin MacNeill, a Utah doctor whose true nature behind his seemingly perfect persona came to light after the death of his wife. Scott stars as Dr. MacNeill; Carpenter plays his wife, Michele. O’Driscoll portrays his daughter, Alexis who idolized McNeill until she began questioning the circumstances of her mother’s death. The movie will debut this fall on Lifetime.

Exclusive: Angie Harmon is expanding her relationship with Lifetime. Harmon, who narrates Lifetime’s upcoming new crime docuseries, Cellmate Secrets, has signed a multi-picture development deal, in which she will executive produce, direct and star for the network.
Currently in development is drama Barstow (working title), from writer/executive producer Thompson Evans. It stars Harmon as a single mother/diner owner whose very dark past keeps coming back to haunt her, despite her desire for a quiet life. As part of the deal, in addition to producing, Harmon will also be directing two original titles to be determined for Lifetime. The new pact marks Harmon’s return to cable, not only on camera, but also as a first-time executive producer, and also marks her long-form directorial debut.
