In the very first scene of the film, a character of Venetian ship owner resembles Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone, with speaking line which begins with "Bona sera" ("good evening"). These are amongst the first Corleone's lines in The Godfather. That was director's hommage to his favourite movie. The character was played by the director himself, though uncredited.

The film was finished in December 2019. and was intended for theatrical release in February 2020, but, due to the pandemic, was postponed. Theatrical release wasn't approved before May 2021.
The Age of Uskoks is also made as four-episode TV-series, broadcasted at Croatian Radiotelevision in December 2021.
