In the novel, Reacher describes killing a man by cutting his throat: "Hauled his head back. Cut his throat. You don't do it with one elegant swipe. Not like in the movies. No knife is sharp enough for that. There's all sorts of tough gristle in the human throat. You have to saw back and forth with a lot of strength. Takes a while. But it works. It works well." When Reacher (Alan Ritchson) lays the trap at Hubble's house for Dawson (A.J. Simmons) and the Venezuelans, Reacher quickly kills one of the Venezuelans with one elegant swipe.
The title of the episode "Reacher Said Nothing" is a reference to frequent phrase throughout the novel series where Reacher often says nothing.
