The flats that exploded are named "Corbusier House" after Le Corbusier, an architect whose urban planning ideas resulted in many of the concrete council housing towers like the one shown. They were built as innovative designs in the 1950s and 1960s, and by the 1970s were considered ugly and slums.
The writer Michael Dobbs was born on the same day as Prince Charles.
