I’m typically pretty forgiving of most direct-to-video action movies. I can easily overlook shoddy acting, weak special effects, watered-down fight scenes, and illogical scripting as long as the entertainment factor is present and accounted for. I’d like to think I’m a pretty easy guy to please, especially when I’m sitting down with a motion picture that contains more explosions than dialogue. However, one thing I simply cannot tolerate is being lied to. If you advertise a mutant attack dog with seventeen different heads on the cover, you’d better deliver the cinematic goods. Making a crappy movie is one thing, blatantly lying to get people interested in your product is another. Enter director Dan Garcia’s 2011 actioner “Flesh Wounds”, a cheap, made-for-tv yarn that borrows heavily — and I do mean heavily — from John McTiernan’s 1987 classic “Predator”. The similarities are extraordinary, but that’s not the film’s worst offense.

Ah, Kevin Sorbo. For my entertainment dollar, the guy can do no wrong. Even something as hilariously inept as “Bitch Slap” is made sweeter by the presence of the Sorb. Not surprisingly, my patented cinematic Excite-o-Meter is experiencing major overload now that the big guy’s sci-fi actioner “Flesh Wounds” has a proper Region 1 release date. The film sounds an awful lot like “Predator”, except that the thing these soldiers are hunting in the jungle is some sort of heavily-armed robotic soldier wearing some pretty badass armor. This is the sort of empty-headed cinematic fecal matter that makes Todd a happy little man-child. Here’s a brief synopsis for your infinite amusement: On a remote Us Army facility a group of scientists conducting top secret weapon experiments vanish. An elite covert ops team commanded by Lt. Tyler (Kevin Sorbo) is tasked with recovering the missing personnel within 24 hours. The unit...

If the plot to Terror Trap sounds familiar to you, it might be because the upcoming Jeff Fahey/Michael Madsen/David James Elliot thriller is such a blatant rip-off of Vacancy even The Asylum would be dumbstruck by how much it copycats.
Terror Trap (review here) stars David James Elliot of “J.A.G.” as one half of a squabbling married couple forced to get a room at a fleabag motel where maniacs Jeff Fahey and Michael Madsen run a snuff movie operation. The married couple fights to survive the night, healing their fractured marriage in the process. No, that doesn’t sound familiar at all.
Terror Trap is brought to us by filmmaker Dan Garcia. I just reviewed another movie, Flesh Wounds (review here), he made coming to DVD next month, a shameless Predator rip-off. It’s hard not to notice a pattern developing.

Ever wondered what a low budget remake of Predator might be like if you swapped out the alien big game hunter with a robotic super soldier gone berserk and replaced Arnold Schwazenegger with TV "Hercules" Kevin Sorbo? Your wonder becomes reality when Flesh Wounds rips its way onto DVD this July.
On a remote Us Army facility that officially doesn’t exist, a top-secret group of scientists conduct weapons research when they’re horribly and suddenly ripped apart by an unseen enemy.

American World Pictures was kind enough to hit us off with some new artwork for the upcoming sci-fi themed carnage fest Flesh Wounds, which finds TV's "Hercules", Kevin Sorbo, leading a squad of soldiers being stalked by a cybernetic super soldier run amok in the woods. Dig it!

American World Pictures has posted info and trailers on its website for several new films the company is handling distribution for. I expect we'll be seeing more of this in the next few days with so much wheelin' & dealin' going on at the Cannes Film Festival. Of particular interest to our readers are a new Predator clone with Kevin Sorbo and some lycan horror starring Costas Mandylor and a frequently naked Christa Campbell.
First up is Flesh Wounds with TV "Hercules" Kevin Sorbo leading a squad of soldiers being stalked by a cybernetic super soldier run amok in the woods. With Predators coming out this summer, it shouldn't come as any big surprise to see Predator knock-offs making a comeback as well - at least this one thus far.
