- Belle entertains Des, a young man who loves to be covered in messy foodstuffs, not the most erotic subject for her next chapter, so she turns to Duncan for the real thing. Bambi tries in vain to reject an ardent Byron, who buys her a bicycle and proposes to her whilst Ben breaks things off with Jackie.—don @ minifie-1
- Back at the editor's, Belle listens to him critique her writing, and, wishful thinking, longing for him, imagines herself laying on his desk in lingerie as he tickles her stomach, apparently a key part of the editing process.
He says the writing feels stuck and wonders if she could find someone unusual. She'd be up for that.
Hannah talks to Ben at his bar. He thinks her editor is pimping her toward someone odd to sell books. She changes the subject to her sister. Ben says things weren't meant to go on like this, to develop. He wants Hannah's help getting out of it, but she says he's on his own.
Bambi joins them and mentions that Byron, the rich trick she fancies, stayed at her place last night for free. Belle thinks she's being used and it'll go horribly wrong. Used to her usual run of rotten luck, Bambi half expects the same.
Belle gets ready for her kinky client, Des. She's decked out in evening wear and there's a full table of desserts laid out. Des arrives in a tuxedo and then steps into the kitchen, which has been completely covered in plastic sheeting.
He's ready to get down to things, which includes being amorous with a pie. Soon, Belle's smothering him in pudding. He asks her to throw a pie in his face and he reciprocates, but it gets her in eye, and she slips in some goo and hits the deck.
She tries to stay enthused as he breaks out the next food item and pours it down her clothes, but she finally has to cry uncle. Des politely suggests he clean up and go since she's clearly not enjoying it.
Belle turns to us and asks how she's supposed to write that up. She'll need a firm editorial hand, she says.
Walking down the street later, she says what she's about to do is brave and bold. But first she needs the right kind of heels.
She visits her editor in the office, which is otherwise empty. He admires her dress and the shoes. She sits on his desk and asks if they can tell the truth. She goes first and kisses him. Then she says it was a bad idea. He agrees it was terrible and kisses her back. She's on her back on his desk in no time.
Jackie and Ben sit in a paddle boat in a park when he breaks up with her.
Byron stops by Bambi's apartment with a bicycle, a present for her. She tells him he can't just turn up there and reminds him how they met. He tries to assure her it won't end badly, but she tells him she has to go, she's late for a client. He leaves and takes the bike with him, tossing it in the river.
Back at the office, Duncan tells Belle they should probably get dressed, people might be coming back. She thinks he's going to ask her to go somewhere, but instead he asks if she needs a cab.
Belle drops by Ben's bar, where he's feeling glum for dumping Jackie. Belle tells him she had a bad day, too, and about sleeping with Duncan. She realizes he's not into her.
Back home, Jackie isn't there, but Bambi comes by. Belle listens to a message from her sister, saying she went back to her husband and, by the way, Ben's a wanker.
Bambi tells Belle about breaking things off with Byron. They're sharing champagne when Bambi thinks she smells toast. They realize it's coming from outside. They look out and see Byron has lit small fires spelling out "I love you" for Bambi. She runs downstairs to him and they kiss and make up as it starts to rain.
All alone, Belle leaves a message for someone asking if they could try again. Cut to her in a frock with Des, sitting on a big cake.
