Parents, if your children are dumb, teach them not to apply for reality TV.

Warning: Spoilers
"This is the true story of eight narcissistic, perpetually drunk party-mode buffoons, picked to break things in a luxurious hotel suite, work against each other, bicker over trivialities, and have their asinine attention-starved lives taped. So find out what happens when a couple of highly-strung lesbians stop being polite and start making out... The Silly World. Cancun."

Just when you think TRW's producers could not possibly get a bunch of people any dumber, they surprise you. Especially the girls lately are getting ditsier and nuttier with leaps and bounds. I used to think the Sydney girls' stupidity couldn't be matched, but now we have Cancun.

So, as in all my TRW reviews, here are the guinea-pigs, listed in order of decreasing intelligence...

Derek. The token gay guy, the "nice guy"; appears to be the one with a speck of common sense, but even he gets drunk, crawling all over the hotel premises like a lost snail... He was pretty much the 8th cast-mate, wallpaper.

Bronne, the token clown. Not particularly amusing, not too bright, but compared to his "friends" listed below he is almost perfect in every way. He throws a fire-extinguisher into the hotel's pool and gets expelled.

CJ. The token football hunk. Much like Joey, he will grab anything, not a picky eater.

Joey, the tall "punk" kid. Cheerful, genuine, and likable, but so painfully naive about the ways of the world. He thought it would be "hip" (i.e. so very punky) to rebel against his "awful job" (which mostly consisted of hanging out with students and having fun). Predictably, he got kicked off the job hence the show as a result of his amazing immaturity. Without even planning it that way, he gets the last laugh in his duel versus Ayiiia by ruining her long-term relationship.

"I'm 5 foot, and have that Napoleon Syndrome." Jasmine, that term is used for describing small aggressive men, not women. When you combine extremely low body weight and tons of booze, what do you get? It's not pretty. If it weren't for Ayiiia and Emilee (I swear I am not misspelling these names!), she would have been this season's Paula/Brooke/Ruthie. She likes to break things. Possibly the only TRW girl ever to get rejected by a guy after having offered him sex. (I'm not sure whether she's proud of that distinction.) "No-one turns ME down!" she says. Poor thing. Yet another aspiring alcoholic: what else is new in TRW's booze-stained universe...

Jonna, an overrated "beauty" if I've ever seen one. At first she plays the role of the serious-relationship gal, until she finally reveals the true extent of her decadence. She hooks up with a plethora of guys, and even has a threesome with Ayiiia and a terribly nerdy, skinny DJ which all the RW girls fawn over for some bizarre reason. She has the nerve to ask her ex-boyfriend to pick her up from the airport, weeks after dumping him unceremoniously. There are so many porn producers that would pay you for this, Jonna. Why do it for free in front of MTV's cameras?

"Guy-ee, wow, rad and stuff, like!" That's Emilee's entire vocabulary, not counting moans and grunts. But when you consider that she's a "Hooters" girl, it's an impressive collection of words indeed. One of Cancun's two lesbian "Hooters" girls. (TRW's producers have started increasingly casting trashy people in recent seasons. They are going for that good old Jerry Springer feel.) Half the cast members this time around are gay, which causes all sorts of amusing situations. "Don't make me feel dumb for working at Hooters!" she tells Joey angrily. She says she takes medicine for her ADHD, to "help me organize my thoughts". Yes, but where's the medicine that creates those thoughts in the first place? A textbook airhead. Her parents are therapists, so I'd pretty much rip their diplomas into pieces.

And last but not least, Ayiiia, the token loon, this season's legendary train-wreck. Yep, "ayyyiiiaaaa" was usually my reaction too, to her infantile antics, sociopathic behaviour and all-round lunacy. (What makes one decide to name one's child after an Apache war cry?) When she arrived in Mexico, neither the hotel nor her male room-mates had even an inkling as to what they were getting: a train-wreck, a nutcase, a moron, an ex-junkie, a self-mutilator, and an insecure attention-starved lesbian exhibitionist - all wrapped in one. A Jerry Springer Frankenstein dream creation made in heaven. She is the other "Hooters" girl. At the very outset she has problems with Jonna and Joey. Later, it turns out that she merely hated them because she wanted to have sex with them but couldn't bring herself to ask them. Ayiiia is the only TRW cast-member ever to sleep with three of her room-mates (Jonna, Joey, and Emilee). I am sure her conservative Catholic parents were thrilled to observe their daughter's shenanigans on national TV. Perhaps they bought the show's DVD collection and sent them as gifts to all their relatives for Christmas?... No?...

My favourite Ayiiia moment: Joey spits into her tacos, she punches a wall, hurts her hand, then sobs like a little girl. Priceless. So thick is this girl that she doesn't even grasp why her employers place a ban on alcohol during and after working hours in the hotel. She is utterly baffled and irritated by this rule, and even threatens to confront her boss about it!

"I take full responsibility for what happened." - Ayiiia, stating the bleeding obvious to her boyfriend, after having just told him she'd cheated on him. Priceless.

Their parents must be so proud.

Ever wonder why those talentless LMFAO geeks get so hyped by MTV? Well, they're both close relatives of Motown Record's founder.
