Must See

We were quite surprised at the quality of the writing & acting in this show. Down & gritty policing in Liverpool. Martin Freeman was remarkable! The other British character actors were fun to watch. Sure hope there is a Season2! This show deserves way better than a 7.4 rating! I will always think of Martin Freeman as the guy who fell thru the hole in the ice in Fargo, but this changed my mind big time. Surely an Emmy coming up!

An awesome end to the series.

Chris tries to so the right thing by Casey, and tries to do the right thing by Rachel, he has demons of his own to battle.

This series has simmered, and in this fifth part it bursts into flames, this final episode is sensational viewing. I was gripped, enthralled, and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. They even managed to get a few jokes in, the smoked salmon joke was very funny.

Superb acting once again, it really has been the key feature of this series. It's nice to watch a series that concludes with answers, it feels as if we've been given so many answers, plenty of loose ends have been tied up, will we be treated to a second series?

Adelayo Adedayo I applaud you, that scene where Rachel confronts her demons, one of the most powerful things I have ever seen, one of the best single bits of acting I think I have ever seen, incredible.

Blown away by this, 10/10.

A slap in the face

If a police officer who knows that the law is on her side, who knows exactly what to do in case of domestic abuse, has to struggle with herself in order to report her abuser, I have to wonder how difficult it must be for other women to do so.

I understand that she has been a police officer only for a few months and that the abuse has been going on for years, but still I was surprised with the amount of courage she had to gather in order to face her abuser. That should be a lesson to all people who wonder "why does she keep on staying?" Once again excellent acting, especially from Adelayo Adedayo and Martin Freeman.

Warning: Spoilers
The hallmark of The responder was that everyone was in dire straits.

A doctor roped in to work with drug dealers because of her brother. A policeman in a spiral of despair as he needs to pay for his mother's care home bill.

It continues in the final episode. Ray Mullen is just pathetic. Rachel Hargreaves is in a bad place because of her gaslighting abusive partner.

At least she finally gets the courage to stand up to him. It was probably the most important moment in this episode.

Chris Carson's issues was too neatly resolved. I was no convinced by it.

It was well acted. To me it was too gloomy and depressing, some of the characters were just being dim too many times. You might understand it with a few of them if they were just smackheads.
