This movie is alright :)

The musical score is gorgeous. The editing is good, the cinematography are beautiful and effective, and Ben Eldin does a spectacular job with his role. An actor to watch out for.

Very well made movie, but maybe the script could have been more detailed instead they went with a more philosophical and vague direction.

The relationships depicted in the film are believable and moving. I'm not sure why this movie got a 4.5, honestly I'm not sure why I rated this 9 instead of 10, but it's near perfect for a viewer like myself honestly. I think in many ways, it exudes vibes similar to my viewing of Locke. Really unexpected. I will look up this director.

Watched on a holiday morning thinking it would be SciFi when it should have been watched at night alone before bed.

Ben Eldin was just excellent. Dialogue was excellent, And just to reiterate, the Soundtrack was gorgeous.

Timely and timeless
buff_film29 February 2024
Considering the times during which this film was shot - around the end of lockdowns etc. - I thought the story was extremely timely. It explores topics such as imposter syndrome, dysfunctional relationships, and ambition, which are, I would say, quite timeless.

The writer, who also happens to be the director and has a small part in the film, has done a very clever job assembling the cast and crew with what is likely a medium budget. Additionally, the main actor is such a star on the rise, and I can't wait to see more of him in a lead role.

The actress who plays his girlfriend, whom I've known from TV shows, I believe really shined in this movie. I think this is her best role and I would like to see her lead more dramas in the future. The director also playing a small part was such an interesting cameo. I believe she also needs more acting roles.

I give the film a nine out of ten. I only wish this film had a higher budget and I would not dismiss the opportunity for a remake, much like Vanilla Sky. The themes, in a way, sort of remind me of it and I'd like to see this treated as a theatrical release in the classical sense rather than a streaming service release.

What do you want to watch

Warning: Spoilers
I'd rather watch this than lots of other stuff on offer.

This is as real as a movie can be real about a twenty-something influencer trying to be more real.

It's a metaphor, and yet it isn't.

It's about today's reality, but it leaves out a lot of good. It's a spotlight, and Billy's in it.

There's definitely not a lot of love in Billy's world.

I guess that's what he realises and acts upon. Not in the nicest, clearest way. But when you're drowning, you have to kick off everything holding you under. And that might even be your friends, or partners. Especially when they do neither see nor ask nor care about your breathing difficulties.

I liked the red-pilling, George-Carlin like 'saying it as it is' while making it into a self-help thing where people are thrown back onto themselves (if they choose to let it happen), and it leads to his second-hand 'fantasy' spiel working for HIM second-handedly, and he goes back to his source.

Life. Go figure (it out).

A bit too arrogant at times, overplaying a bit, still the lead is excellent. His girlfriend is too.

The writer/director acting (double meaning totally intended and factual) as a kind of Greek choir, or friendly (while not being overly friendly) reflection was not really gelling into the story character-wise, she was too cool and lifeless for me.

All in all a recommend, glad I gave it a shot despite the imdb rating. Think for myself, I can! (and apparently I turned into Yoda!)
