The family cracks begin to appear.
Sleepin_Dragon1 August 2023
Elizabeth finds herself in the middle of a family conflict, after Edward demands that Mary renounces The Catholic faith, and concert to the Protestant religion. Thomas Seymour plays a dangerous game with the young Elizabeth.

I would argue this was a more accomplished episode than the first, that was largely happy families, with the trio of siblings uniting in their mutual grief, this second episode however explores the family cracks.

I honestly had no idea that Catherine Parr played such a significant role in young Elizabeth's life, she's portrayed as something of a Lady Macbeth figure.

The most memorable scene I thought was that intense moment where The Young King and Duke of Somerset discuss the story of the bird, and how it's related to the current state of events.

It's very nicely shot, it's a slick looking production, I like that they've kept the lighting subtle, they chose not to go for neon bright, it works.

This was pretty good.

8/10.
