Great ending to an amazing season

Warning: Spoilers
It was great to get to meet Ryan and Javicia is great as Ryan/Batwoman. But part of me will always miss Kate Kane Batwoman was her legacy first not to mention the ties her story has to Batman and the rest of the Bat fam. Letting go of Kate again was really hard. I mean I had a feeling that she wouldn't stay baring all she did as Circe: it's just who she is. Though I wish there was a way for her to stay even if it's not as Batwoman anymore. To be honest tho I don't see a problem with both Kate and Ryan sharing Batwoman. It would be a less burden on both. It just hurt to say bye when I was hopeful I wouldn't have to XD. Plus Wallis was great as Kate, she captured the character perfectly after Ruby Rose left.

I'm not much of a Sophie & Kate fan but their goodbye gave me goosebumps beautiful and hot scene. As ro Alice saving Kate fitting as Kate was the one to sorta save her sister last season. What bothered me is that Kate just gave up on her and abadoned her like nothing. UHHH Kate, Alice saved you, your sister is still there. I didn't like how that reflected on Kate tbh. Kate with Mary and Luke?<3 OG Batwoman team, why do I have to say goodbye to them again?

Not fair. Tre cool seeing Luke suitup as Batwing delivering Justice to that cop.

All in all cool season finale. My only gripe was how easily Blackmask was defeated. I guess they ran out of time LOL. Oh and what's that Bruce Wayne and Poison Ivy tease???? Can not wait for net season.

Ps. If Bruce does show up one day that means Kate will too right? XD guess we'll see.

Warning: Spoilers
The season 2 finale of Batwoman is action packed, emotional, satisfying and had a bunch of cool reveals. Thus far, this is my favorite episode of Batwoman. From the sets, soundtrack, acting, emotional intensity and action scenes, it ticked all the right boxes for me. Also, it felt like the most cohesive and structured episode of Batwoman. Despite the season's faults, it ended on a high note.

Wallis Day came in and outsold her performance as Kate Kane. There were some issues to how her story was wrapped up, but it definitely left me satisfied. Why would Kate leave Alice/Beth in Arkham Asylum? This could have been the perfect chance to write off the Alice character. I do love Rachel Skarsten and her portrayal of Alice, but I feel like she is no longer necessary to the series. Without Kate and Jacob Kane, Alice seems to be a pointless character.

It turns out that this episode wrapped up Kate Kane's story arc. I think that it felt a little rushed how they ended things with the character. She could have sticked around for the first half of season 3 to wrap up loose ends. Kate could have perhaps taught Ryan a thing or two about being Batwoman and continued trying to redeem Alice. Along with Bruce Wayne, Kate Kane will probably reappear in the series finale or in the final season (whenever that may be).

Black Mask is, in my opinion, a truly menacing and entrenching villain. His overall plan to entice the citizens of Gotham to help him overthrow the government fell short. This season finale actually reminded me of Arrow's season 2 finale and season 3 finale. The premise is different, yet the execution and how it is conceived feels similar. The Ryan and Alice vs. Circe/Kate fight sequence reminded me of the final fight between Oliver and Ra's al Ghul in the season 3 finale.

The final scene teased the appearance of Poison Ivy in season 3. I hope that Poison Ivy is just as good on Batwoman as she was on Gotham. Peyton List will always be the ultimate Poison Ivy in my eyes. She embodied the character flawlessly. Fun Fact: Peyton List actually appeared on The Flash season 1 and 2 as Captain Cold's sister Lisa aka Golden Glider.

To conclude, Batwoman sticks the landing and delivers a stellar season finale. It is also easily the best episode of the entire series thus far. The episode wrapped up the overarching storyline in a fitting way, whilst still leaving some questions unanswered. It also set up Ryan's story for season 3. Hopefully Ryan Wilder becomes a fleshed out character with more development in season 3. She really was underutilized in her debut season.

Final verdict: 9.3/10.

Perfect finale for a perfect season

This finale was great. All characters got good endings, with enough characters and plotlines to return later on. The action and character interactions was great, it brought me to tears a few times. The show has found it's footing and is taking off running now!!!

Cancel this show CW. Or make it with lesser episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
A pretty rushed finale. They wanted to create a Dark Knight Rises type chaos in Gotham but failed. Also horrendous editing; scenes cutting off to quickly. Roman is took care of in a few minutes and not seen again until the last shot, Luke saving Mary in Batwing suit and in next shot Mary is giving the snakebite to Ryan in a different location and Batwing just throw a single punch to Bane lite. Also OMG! That Batwing suit. Straight from some comic-con fan made suit and not something Lucius Fox would make! Sorry but CW should have cancelled this one rather than Black Lightning. This show is an insult to the Batman lore.

Batwoman is Kate
daianerock1319 July 2021
Wallis needs to come back as Batwoman, real Gotham and batwoman need come back, I can't take anymore Ryan as Batwoman, idiot jokes, and weak batwoman, the end of this ep was really too bad but the ep 17 and beginner of 18 were the best of season 2.

Season Two Review
southdavid9 September 2021
My thoughts on the first season of "Batwoman" were that it was a standard Berlanti-verse show, let down somewhat by it's lead actress not being very good. I hoped that the second season would improve, given Ruby Rose's departure, but hamstrung by a story forced to stick with pre-existing characters I felt this season was worse.

Kate Kane is missing, with her plane shot down things look bleak, but her body has not been recovered. Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) steps into the batsuit when she recovers it from the crash site planning to use it to avenge her foster mothers' death at the hands of Alice (Rachel Skarsten). Though that plan fails, Wilder does thwart the escape of Tommy Elliot, which is enough to earn her at least a temporary spell as Kate's replacement.

I mean, the problem with this season is that the show is tied into a character that isn't there anymore. Kate Kane's whole family make up many of the supporting characters and the principle villainess. Weaving a new character into that and having it make sense does feel forced. Particularly as there's so much else going on, the diversions to Safiyah's island, the introduction of Black Mask as the season run on, the reveal about what happened to Kate. There's so much, but it all somehow still feels inconsequential.

I have to admit, after a few weeks I let "Batwoman" stack up on the planner, and then decided that I honestly couldn't face sitting through all of them, so I deleted four episodes for the last five episodes and just watched the finale. It was telling that I didn't struggle to follow what was happening, despite not watching around 20% of the season.

Again, I'll probably watch the next season, because a lot of the teases suggest steps towards things I might like. The Kane's family appear to be mostly departing and the arrival of Bridget Regan as Poison Ivy might make for a more interesting big bad. We'll see... but honestly, I don't think I can give this series too many more chances.

Miss the Bat
Lejink27 June 2022
I've just ploughed through to the end of the gruelling 18 or was it 19 episode second series of "Batwoman" and I must admit I found it really heavy going.

I was aware of course of the furore surrounding Ruby Rose's sudden departure after series one as well as the fallout from her accusations against co-star Dougray Scott. Still, against my better judgement, I persisted with the show all the way although I really don't think I have the inclination to go back for series three.

I just couldn't get round the preposterous not to say disrespectful way the writers tried to get round the loss of Rose, teasing out the is-she-alive-or-isn't-she question and then conning the audience with an evil near-lookalike popping up at the end.

As for her replacement as Batwoman, I shouldn't have been surprised that version 2.0 is also from the LBGT community and of course is black too. I get that the producers are trying to promote diversity but sometimes it can seem a bit obvious. I'm sorry too but I thought the new look of Batwoman with her curls cascading out of her cowl looked silly and was it just me thinking that the new actress in the part didn't really seem up to the physical demands of the part. Her running, jumping and fighting scenes just looked very staged and almost cumbersome to me.

Unfortunately, the show-runners also seem to want to maintain Alice as the Joker of the piece, but for me, this character's emotional and psychological flip-flopping almost every episode grew very irritating and tiresome after a very short while. None of the other super-villains, from False Face to Black Mask worked either while all that mystical, fantastical stuff involving Ocean, Circe and Safiya was just so much fluff and nonsense.

I really was relieved to get to the end of this slow-freezing series and it pains me to say that I found it to be one that really tried my support of the DC television comic-verse. All I saw really was slack writing, rote acting and unimaginative direction and by retaining much of the same cast of characters for the third series I think this is one bat-signal I'll be ignoring from now on.
