... why it happens.. it shouldn't, yet it does
bjarias2 October 2023
... there are some really good shows that for whatever-reason(s) don't make it past their premier-release... then there are those that continue-on-and-on well past a time they should have been pulled-ended... regrettably De Kraak (The Bank Hacker) falls into the former category

... here's a production that's just entertaining-watching... well done in all-parts, it's a-binge-watch-show belonging on a major-streaming-service, so it can be enjoyed by a much larger viewing audience... five hundred ratings on IMDb, just four written-reviews (now-five) shows just how not-known-about-unseen it-really-is

... and Ella-June Henrard is absolutely-gorgeous (search for her), and a very-good-actor, and doesn't even have a picture on this review-site... how crazy is that.

Entertaining, funny and exciting!!

Good series, and I also love the Belgian actors Gene Bervoets and Dirk van Dijk , so one more plus. And no, I am not from Belgium.

Yes, the theme can be somewhat cliche but the number of surprises from beginning to end keep the series very entertaining and with very exciting moments.

The worst are the repetitive scenes during the last episodes, to fill time, I think.

At the same time also quite funny and with a message that I love, the most powerful in the banks drive us all crazy, we are puppets without a doubt.

The story of LiLy Rose is also really good and with another message to learn.

The music is also excellent, and gave me a vibe of the movie 'Now You see me'.

If you are going to film a second season count on me!! ;))

Versatile heist story with several twists
BeneCumb26 February 2024
Recent 5 years or so I have seen several Belgian (mostly Flemish, but some Wallonian as well) crime or drama series and they have been to my liking, some of them even in my top list... De Kraak aroused my interest from the 1st episode (although I started to ponder whether the confession of the protagonist revealed too much, but luckily there were twists and flashbacks later). The sequence of events, setbacks and motives seemed plausible (lots of psychology and social engineering included), and all stuff related to computing and banking was smoothly and logically explained, so the "deus ex machina" feeling did not occur. All the performances were at least good, if not more, and Tijmen Govaerts as Jeremy Peeters, the principal character aged 19-20, was convincing and pleasant (although 27 years old during filming); the rest of main characters were also distinct - as planning a heist requires people of different roles and expertise.

True, e.g. Professor T. Or De Dag are better, but De Kraak is a solid series that can be also watched by those not familiar with software and banking terms.

With potential but without ambitions

This small series starts very modern and promises a lot of interesting suspends. From the middle it goes down and wordy. What a pity.

Brilliant

What a brilliant story. So very intelligent. And great acting too. Amazing I had never seen any of the actors before. Don't miss the last episode. That one is the best. I don't know how, but I really hope there will be sequel.

Clever and intriguing

Told mainly in flashback by one of the participants of a bank cyberheist, this series pulled one in from the beginning. Of course, belief in reality has to be suspended and the characters were written to a formula but the story convinces nonetheless.

There seemed to be a twist in every episode and I didn't predict more than one of them. I guessed the very final twist and was certain there'd be a cliffhanger and what form it would take. So we are set up for a second series, I assume.

There's so much good television coming out of Flanders. I've seen several excellent crime dramas from there and this was another one.

Belgium's ocean's 19
manupauwels23 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a boiled down copy of the Ocean's franchise. We've seen enough of this plot: a gang of stereotypes going to rob a bank. If they just had sticked to this, they could've earned 6 stars. But no, they had to add a side story of a mom and her daughter who's in financial trouble. Besides of the really weak acting performance, it's an unnecessary tin of emotionality that adds zero to the plot.

Is it worth watching? Definitely. As long as you're Zwifting or reading a good book.
