The main fawn was a wild, rehabilitated fawn who had been attacked by a dog right after birth. The fawn was fully rehabilitated and released into the wild. The fawn was spotted a few years later as a healthy buck with large antlers.
It took three spring seasons to film all the scenes for the song "Signs of Spring." It took that long to get the red-winged blackbird to land on the sign in the marsh.
