Warning, it is going to take a couple more episodes to sort this out. This first one is a good start. Brenda gets a father and son who both appear to be guilty of murdering a doctor who does not have a clue how to treat mental illness. The son really is a victim of the doctor. The father is getting a plea deal for the doctors murder and is trying to cover up because he thinks his son did it.
At the court hearing for the plea, the father states incorrectly that he strangled the doctor with his bare hands. The evidence of the dead body shows that is not possible. This sets up Brenda to wonder why the lie and then to go back into the evidence looking for an answer as no murder weapon has been found on the scene.
Meanwhile, Brendas mom and niece Charlie (Tyra's real life daughter) are in for a visit at home. As usual, Brenda starts to involve Charlie in the case. She is complimented in the court room in French by the father's son. As we get late in this episode, Brenda is starting to suspect the son did the killing. So far nothing is clear yet, and there are some twists coming.
