The story follows a comedian, struggling with his own self-doubt, left to deal with the hard reality of reaching for success without a mentor or a teacher. Edward has been putting in the work and doing the hours to better his stand-up career, make a difference, and be remembered for his work. We get to experience the complicated relationship that we all have with our own doubts - Too little and we become reckless, too much and we may become harmful to ourselves.
'After another low turnout evening to his late-night comedy set Edward is visited by an old friend - his own Doubt. Doubt always comes late at night ready to challenge, debate and well ... doubt everything Ed has to say.
But this time Doubt's finding his job a little harder; Edward jumps the gun at every stage, cutting his own ideas and hopes down before Doubt can even open his mouth. After all, it's none of his business to doubt himself. That's Doubt's job. Even when Edward tries to escape this conversation Doubt follows him on a walk around the venue while trying to explain the complexities of their relationship.
Doubt hits Edward with some hard home truths, accusing him of using him to fuel his downwards spiral of negative thoughts and a free pass to booze rather than as a tool to examine his choices. At the end of what some might find as a harsh but illuminating conversation, Ed is left by Doubt back at the place he feels safe enough to call home - the stage. Back behind the wheel of his career. Back where he feels a little more in charge.'
