The overall vibe of this show fed into a fear mongering rhetoric that is common used in some documentary series. It fails to grant the animal the respect it deserves as well as stating certain falsehoods. Contrary to what many believe sharks are not apex hunters, it also fails to push forward the reasoning and more supported theories behind many of its documented attacks.
After watching not even 10 minutes of the first episode, we are faced with the stated that the megalodon evolved into modern day great whites as fact. This is a theory, and in fact many paleontologists that specialize in the study of marine biology have support other theories more so then evolution, the most support I've seen is for the extinction theory. As a specialized apex hunter of its time, the likely hood of evolving is slim as well, survival even more so.
The top supporting evidence we have that separates megalodon and great whites is in fact their teeth. It is commonly mistaken that "most" scientist think great whites are descended of megs, is purely because many people use the great whites appearance as an example. The fact is they have very little in common relation to each other. In fact great whites have more in common with Mako sharks then the megalodon.
