- There is something in the air. Jamie and lord John talk about politics. Roger receives an excellent news.
- In a flashback scene to June 1746, Flora MacDonald helps Bonnie Prince Charles escape from Scotland to the Isle of Skye. In the present, Jamie has submitted his resignation as Indian Agent. Lord John is assuring Governor Martin that this is not a reflection on Jamie's loyalty. In Wilmington, Jamie meets with Cornelius Harnett, one of the Sons of Liberty leaders, in the hotel lobby, agreeing to come to their meeting that evening. Later, Jamie and Claire attend a rousing loyalist rally to hear an address by Flora MacDonald, recounting her saving of Prince Charles but how she now is behind the king. Lord John is glad to see Jamie there because he has seen Jamie's name on lists of rebels that are in circulation. Aunt Jocasta and Innes also show up. While they are there, some trouble breaks out in town. A bunch of rebel colonists are ready to tar and feather a Mr. Simms who has been printing loyalist pamphlets. Jamie defends him reminding the crowd that the pamphlets are simply a job, not an expression of Simms's backing of the loyalists. Back at the party, he calls his aunt out, realizing that she has bankrolled the whole event. Jamie starts feeling guilty about deceiving Lord John; he tells him point blank that he will be attending the Sons of Liberty meeting. Lord John says troops will move in to arrest everyone. Jamie goes to the meeting and warns attendees just in time. Back at Fraser's Ridge, Roger gets himself in deep with widow Amy McCallum. He is spending so much time in helping fix her cabin, that people are wondering if there isn't some romancing going on between them. Even Bree accuses him of this. When he and Tom Christie are bringing a bell for the church/meeting house, they catch Malva and the Henderson boy in a compromising situation. Malva, realizing that she is in deep trouble if her father learns of this, threatens to claim she saw Amy and Roger kissing. Roger immediately finds someone else to help Widow McCallum. Bree is pleased and takes the opportunity to disclose that she is pregnant. Marsali perceives this, too. While Bree and the girls were looking for a waterwheel site, they find a Venom of the North Wind charm, a love potion. It's Malva's doings. Claire hears someone whistle a 1960's tune. They also stole an emerald from Jocasta.—Garon Smith
