you can be on your way then
Rob-O-Cop25 April 2022
I'm not getting why the reviews are so negative for series 6.

It's got to follow the book and the story is what the book pretty much says.

Claire does face witch craft accusations in the book, Jamie is accused of fathering malva's child, (and if you haven't read the book or gone to the wiki to check that this is all what actually is written, there's a twist coming on that front too), The stuff with the twins and Lizzy , it's in the book,

I'll agree I'm not enjoying the ether junkie stuff, and it not being in the books makes it worse, although I get that it's supposed to show Claire's mental collapse and her route of escaping, it wasn't how the books showed it. But there's a lot of good stuff going on, and if you can just bear with it there's some good time travel coming up.

I'll agree the doom and gloom is a bit much, but they've jumped some of this series stuff into last series so it's messed it up a bit. Bonnet was still around for some of this stuff and I think he was dispatched too early, but what's done is done.

Roger's a lot less annoying as a bearded priest for a start.

Claire finally telling Jamie what was going on in her head and his response was touching and real, and rewarding, as good as we've come to expect from the show, so why the hate?

And now we get the attempted arrest.

I'm still enjoying this show more than most on offer, and I'm thankful it's still in production despite the pandemic.

Episode 607

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like this is an odd direction to end the season with. Disappointed to see Malva go down, but the whole village turning on Claire does not seem realistic at all.

Filler?
alanschulman30 April 2022
S6 e7 was garbage. Seemed like just filler. Must agree that season 6 has largely disappointed. Claire's ghosts? Whatever. Roger the preacher? Whatever. There was a teaser awhile back with someone whistling the theme from The Bridge over the River Kwai. Come on let's get back to the future.

Brilliant!

OUTLANDER IS NOT DISNEY! Those that have issues with this show need to take it up with the author. Like the Harry Potter series, it gets darker not only because that is what is happening in the world around the Frasers, but because they are dealing with mounting personal troubles as well. That makes for excellent story.

And what a story! This episode covers a lot of ground. As the series races towards next week's finale we see the balance of power shift unjustly from the Frasers to the self-righteous residents of the Ridge. Makes you want to yell at the screen.

The acting is superb from all members of the cast, but especially from Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe who always cast their spell. In one scene in particular they play off each other with such creative synergy they explode off the screen and into your heart. It's hard to believe they are acting. You totally believe they are a married couple of long standing that have weathered tremendous vicissitudes, with their transcendent love in tact.

This unique chemistry is still the best I've ever seen.

The story is enthralling! Heartrending. It even has some lighthearted moments. It is everything you could want in a penultimate episode.

Great episode, but there is something I can't stand with.
elliottremblay25 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe Outlander's "Sticks and Stones" has an IMDb rating of 7.4. If there's one thing Outlander does well, it's not using the viol as mere drama throughout the series. Everyone who was raped showed their PTSD and the shock that comes with it. Now is the time for our main character Claire, I can just be happy the showrunner shows it, even if it might be boring or a little too much. It's here. Like in real life, if it happens to someone, and everyone knows it happens. I can't stand it being said that the showrunner should avoid seeing her ghosts or just hearing them, it wouldn't be very disturbing, because it's certainly up to her to live with this trauma, since Jamie is in season 2, and Brianna in seasons 4. The showrunmer strongly does this as Claire has been the main character since the first episode and treats her realistically and respectfully. And of course, those things are backed up by a stellar cast and great performance.

On the other hand, I have read the books well recently, so I am aware of the ending of the sixth book. Then I hear a lot of people say that even though the showrunner does a good job of adapting the novel, well Diana Gabaldon did some crap in her book. I just can't tolerate someone judging a book by its television adaptation. Yes, Outlander was and remains an amazing adaptation of its source material, but no one can judge Gabaldon's work just by watching the TV show. Season 6 is pretty amazing to me and I don't mind if it becomes some kind of soap opera because I know how it ends, I know it's necessary. As you can see, the accusation and murder of Malva is the beginning of the end for Fraser's Ridge, the calm before the storm. It can't always be a disaster in their life. The previous season, Roger was hanged, Jamie was bitten by a snake and near death, Brianna was kidnapped and Claire was raped, and all this in 5 episodes (season 5 ep. 8 to 12). I strongly think it's normal for their life to be some kind of soap opera for a certain time.

Claire and Jamie are just trying to live their lives in peace, but now the Christies have come to them and drama is happening. It's been a peaceful season, preparing us for what's to come in the massive Season 7...!

So surprised by all the negativity
catherinehumphries28 April 2022
By reading most of the reviews I can only assume none have read the books🤔 S6 follows most of the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which is a dark book slowly pulling back the layers of dissent on the Ridge which is also being reflected in their world at large. I think they've done an excellent job given the restrictions in place during filming. Although the ether drama did not appear in the books, I find it's an effective tool to reflect Claire's inner demons and turmoil. She was haunted by what happened to her and even into book 9 it's still revealing itself. I am Outlander ride and die, and would hate to see it end prematurely because of the negativity.

Season 6 Plot Lines are in Books
nancyarduengo2 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
To those who complained about the plot lines in Season 6. I read all the books and this was the story pretty much as written by Diana Galbadon. Roger becoming a preacher check Jamie accused of rape by Malva, check, Malva found dead in the garden by Claire who tries to save the baby, check, check, Claire accused of murdering her, check, the birthmark proving Jemmie is Roger's son, check, Lizzie becoming pregnant by the twins and sort of marrying both of them check, check. Maybe read the books before critiquing.

Amazing acting
sjqbxdpxh28 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Caitriona Balfe continues to raise the bar with the range of emotions she is able to show through Claire's breakdown. Claire's journey this season has done justice to those who have suffered sexual assault, showing that even those we view as unbreakable are not made of steel.

Poor season
chunkylefunga3 May 2022
This whole season has been an absolute slog.

Most of it just doesn't make sense.

Jamie's reputation magically seems to vanish over the nonse a trollop throws about.

Malva would have been laughed out of town. None of this would have happened with the characters that are well established.

I hope next season fixes all the mistakes this one has made.

These 7 episodes could easily have just been 2. It's nearly all been filler and the bits that have tried to build tension have just been badly written.

True to the book,
pprestamo28 April 2022
Season 6 has been amazing and so true to the books. I have read the books several times and the adaptation this season has been right on. They have really caught the essence of Diana Gabaldon's writing--yes, nothing ever is happily ever after on Frazier's Ridge just like in the the written saga. I am so excited for the extended season 7-if the writers use the source material like they did this season, it will be great!

Better with each episode

I am really enjoying this season - each episode is powerful and true to story and characters. I can't wait to see the next and yet don't want it to end.

Lizzie
NickBOKC1 June 2022
Lizzie is my new hero! She snatched, pun intended, twin brothers! This is every sane person's ultimate fantasy. Well, triplet brothers might actually be hotter, but in any case, I hope she runs away with both of them to live happily ever after! Maybe all three of them could go through the stone gate to a more enlightened future? The best scenario would be a twin pregnancy with both men being the fathers!

Sticks and Stones
rudy20311 May 2022
What a great episode. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, Claire and Jamie's acting was so fantastic. I was so scared for them. They have gone through so much. The plot was true to the book and I always appreciate that. The ending left us with some hope and that hope will carry us over until the next series 7. Now it would be nice if we could get some hope that we will get series 8 and 9.

I realize most of these story lines are in the book ... but they are others that are more exciting
Ziggy196527 April 2022
There is a lot here to not really like this season. The feel has become more gothic and horror and it is not a genre that I particularly care for.

Why is Claire dealing with her trauma on her own. She knows that Jamie went through a rape as well at the hands of Jack Randall so one would think they can confide in each other? At the end of the episode Jamie finally says that he will support her. According to the timeline Claire's rape was over a year ago?

In this episode, no one really goes to Claire, well maybe Jamie, and tries to help her with finding Malva in the field like that. Her daughter Brianna does not even console her and is more busy with Roger. BTW, does anyone else here can't stand this character? Roger who is suppose to have his calling does not say much to Claire. And as soon as Roger and Brianna decide that Roger will go to his minister school, they leave the next day! And that farewell scene with Jamie and Claire was pretty soft. It was almost like, "I can't wait to get out of here". While in the episode before Brianna does not leave her mom's side while she was sick?

Sure Malva story is crucial to the book but I want to see other stuff as well that deal with the history of the time. Story of Jamie turning sides and dealing with the local tribes were far more interesting. Malva's story has taken up too much screen time.

I really thought something good would happen when that guy in prison was whistling "Yankee Doodle Dandy". But alas nothing so far. I am sure it will come.

My wife who is reading the current book says the set is all wrong. There is no way Jamie and Claire have such a big estate with lavish furnishings. They just had a cabin and were building a 2nd floor on it. They did not have servants. The church gets built way later. I thought Aunt Jacosta had died and left them her inheritance. But she is still alive.

Bring back Lord John. He is more interesting. Also, I am getting tired of Jamie and Claire's "holier than thou" look. They just don't seem as nice of a people as they have in the past.

Anyways, I hope the makers of this show turn this around in season 7 or else this show will have the same ending fate that came upon Game of Thrones.

Not exciting anymore
doug2go26 April 2022
This show has been a 9/10 in our household since the beginning with many 10 rated in the 1st season - this season unfortunately has morphed into a period melodramatic morass with this episode being the clincher - Having Jamie accused of Rape and Claire dealing with being called a witch or worse is not exciting but depressing entertainment I don't need . This isn't why I have watched one of the most exciting , mysterious and romantic shows I have ever watched - it isn't any of these anymore - I have watched my last Outlander - I want to remember it as a great show and fun to watch.

Hum...this isn't Outlander.
Eli_Elvis25 April 2022
The tone is completely off. I know this is Danielle Berrow's first gig writing but why? We were 5 seasons in and now the 6 season is almost over. Why give a newbie carte Blanche? Having a PhD in Celtic history doesn't make one a Television writer. Well, at least not right away. We don't watch outlander for this l, I don't know what this season has been really. It feels so misguided. My wife and I have given this season a wash. 1 episode left and we are no farther into the story than the first episode. Sorry didn't care about the evil Christie girl. Glad she's dead. Don't care about the mystery of the murderer either.

I am not liking Claire's ghosts
sawznhamrs-124 April 2022
I wish we were not seeing them. They could be represented without being shown. I am not sure about the storyline of the lass being involved with the twins either. The murder of the young pregnant women is pretty far fetched for the times as well. The series has been ever so fine mostly up to now, so I will be glad when this all resolves!

Have made Outlander into a soap opera which it is not.
Pucz241325 April 2022
I have read all the Outlander books multiple times. I just know if they had been written like this episode I would have stopped on the first book. The writer specifically the one that wrote this episode must love soap opera because this is what this was. What a waste. Over acted by female lead but as usual being praised by network. The humor which should had us laughing out loud was not well written. Doubt I will ever watch this episode again. What a shame.

An addition here. Did you notice all of a sudden a whole bunch of 10's. Well there is a group on Twitter that do not like to see bad reviews of any thing Outlander. They have come in mass to improve ratings. They have even stated that anyone that gives a bad review is bogus and never read the books. So not true. Many long term outlander book readers and fans have stated their dislike of this episode.

Used to be one of my favorite shows.
a22299926 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the books. My girlfriend has. She got me and my brother into the show. We all loved it but over time we have all stopped watching it. I was the last holdout but this is the last episode I will watch. I understand that it follows the books but it has become all too depressing to watch. Last season something terrible happen to every character. Someone was either, shot, hung, strangled, had to run away after saving the life of the person being strangled, almost died of snake bite, knocked unconscious, gang raped, almost sold into sex slavery, or going to commit suicide. There has always been bad things that happened to the characters but not all in one season. In this season not as many awful things have happened but it is still such a downer. I was sitting there asking myself why I was punishing myself watching it. I would much rather watch the first 4 seasons again than watch any new episodes. Reminds me of Orange is the new black. That was another show that had more light moments than dark at first than became depressing as every person had awful things happen to them. There has to be a mixture of light and dark. Outlander has gone too dark with not enough fun moments to outweigh the heaviness.

A Subpar Episode
mzand-751-53957226 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode felt like a bottle show where they use only the regulars in soap opera type scenes to save money. The storyline was boring and frustrating . We know Claire didn't kill Malva and we know she's not a witch. Episodes like these, where the audience gets ahead of the characters and knows what's coming, are always boring because they are predictable. Hopefully, the future episodes will be more of a return to form on like this one or nothing really happened.

Underwhelming...Outlander turned into a soap opera
Yvie8119 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What happened with this show?? I keep watching because I hope something exciting will happen but it never does. Even the murder of that Christie girl didn't do it for me. It was pretty obvious she was up to something and was being dishonest. Didn't make her very likable, so honestly don't really care for her death. The entire season they keep talking about the upcoming war being at their doorstep, but it never happens! I feel like I'm watching a soap opera instead of a proper Outlander season. Also one that is completely not credible considering the time they were living in. A girl having a threesome with some twins?? In reality she would have been chased off their property if not worse. A girl messing around with several men and then getting pregnant? No one would give her words any credibility I'm afraid! She would have most likely been sent away as well as she tainted her family's reputation. I'm not saying I agree with any of that, but that would have been historically way more likely than what is happening in this show right now!

The writing this season is so disappointing
nfire-2974125 April 2022
Disappointed in the writing this season. It sucks. It's predictable and boring.

The acting is better than average for most characters.

The storyline is boring.

The only reason I am watching the entire season is to hopefully see some of the horrible characters die off. Including Claire.

What happened to Outlander?
bellajean-4271726 April 2022
I actually give a negative 10. What a disjointed mess. The Writers themselves are saying "Do Drugs" with the Ether storyline. Terrible & overdramatic acting for Balfe. I notice from Ep to Ep, Season to Season her over the top crying never changes. She has totally ruined OL For me. Sam Heughan is the Main Character but they push him to the back & what could have been a good Ep, could have been a Good Season has been awful. The best Episodes are 3 & 4. It is time for OL to end in Seadon 7. The Writers have proved they have no understanding of the books or Jamie's story.
