I have never cried so hard watching a television show as I did when this episode hit me. To the point that I had to go back and watch part of it again because I couldn't comprehend what I was seeing. You think it's just going to be about a robbery at the Brandenham hotel, and a side story between Bitsy and an insurance investigator. And that bit is brilliant enough, with a wonderful turn from Henry Winkler and a lovely flashback song sung by Broadway star Gavin Creel.
But then something else happens. And you realize you're seeing art. Josh Gad's writing, Elyssa Samsel's violin mastery, and a wordless story about connection and meaning that will leave you breathless with its beauty.
I had just lost my mother from Alzheimer's disease when I saw this episode. So yeah, it hit hard.
I can hardly believe this episode even exists. After I saw it, I sent Josh Gad a tweet thanking him for creating it. And he replied with a simple heart emoji. That was all I needed.
Thanks to the creative team for letting it happen. And thanks to Apple for putting it on their service. Please don't miss it.
