Nobody seems to be bothered by the fact that Betty is going to have to put on a glamorous dress, and be done up, without so much as even showering nor washing (and DRYING!) her hair at all after RUNNING TRACK! She has 15 minutes to be driven out the field onto the locker room where she is made to change and coiffed by the others, and put makeup on and then driven to the Queen of Flowers contest. No one can shower and get rid of grime, dirt and odors in a measly 15 minutes---which she did not have---then be fully dry, as they were spent doing the aforementioned.
Father looks down at her daughter's feet and yells "what's this?!". The daughter---Betty---is *then* shown raising her long gown's skirt: it reveals she's still wearing her dirty sneakers. There is no way her father would have been able to see that---unless he had x-ray vision---because it was concealed by her floor-length gown.
