Could have been so good
tomfsloan5 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Stranger She Brought Home. I have spoilers here. Nice plot, to a point. Similar to While You Were Sleeping but in my opinion, better potential. There were many questions raised throughout the movie about who is the bad guy. Could it be the obvious one? Or could it be one of many others? Each one was plausible with their own twist. But when we find out who it is, the movie took a real nose dive from there. The fun was lost then. How did he get shot and jump 100 feet off a cliff and get stabbed and still able to cause more mayhem? A re-write would have helped. Almost so good.

IN WHAT ALTERNATE UNIVERSE WAS THIS FILMED? CRAZY ENDING!!
mja5825 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was guessing as to who was doing what to whom until about 35 minutes before the end, when the killer is revealed. If you read the LMN schedule, the write up is a spoiler.

However, the situations at times were utter nonsense and the way the characters behaved was either ridiculous or boring.

So, in what universe does this happen -

1. No one seems to pay for a long hospital stay (is there an Insurance fairy that does this?)

2. Hospitals handing over patients for the asking, and not verifying anything.

3. A single woman living alone in an extremely large house, and abruptly getting rid of her roommate.

4. A person being shot, stabbed, and falling into a river, yet coming back.

This would have made a better cartoon than movie.

6/10.

Multiple villains
CranberriAppl26 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Were we supposed to root for the main character? She stalks the 911 callers, has fake IDs to invade their personal space after the emergencies AND steals from them, throws out her roommate for one of her stalkees (her roommate should have refused to move), I'm not sure what we're supposed to be getting from this movie. She's as much of a creep as her boss, only in a slightly different way. The script tries to make us feel for her against her boss, but she's not a better person. The Lifetime summary sort of lets us know where this is going, but I don't care what happens to her. She's probably the least sympathetic protag in a Lifetime movie in a while. Or at least this year. Just like so many other Lifetime "heroines," this one's desperation, selfishness, and idiocy gets people killed.

By the way, this was all learned within the first half hour. You discover these things about her very quickly and it's off-putting. I'm watching now and want to turn it off. I will likely update later with a rating.

The audience deserves an explanation for why she does this to the callers and the movie does not follow through. Saying she likes helping people does not cut it. Even if we accept her "checking" on them as understandable, why the fake ids? Why steal? None of this is explained or addressed (well outside of the other villain's monologue). She's manipulating her latest "save" into believing they actually know each other which is so gross. She lets him in her home, in her room/space, sleeps with him after telling him so many lies..I mean, had this movie ended differently, would anyone have been surprised? The worst part is that unless I missed it, at no point does this character come to the realization that she has issues or how her actions led to this.

If you can get past the ridiculous main character, you might be able to watch. I'm struggling/failing to be on her side at all since she's a liar, thief, and manipulator. She is very clearly also a villain and is the catalyst for the situation she's in.

Edit: Apparently all's well that ends well in this movie even though she should for sure lose her job at a minimum (because she would have had to tell how XXXXXXXXXXXXX came to be in her life, right?). Movies with crappy protagonists getting happy endings bug me. This movie missed the chance to truly show that if you play with fire, you get burned. Like in Drag Me to Hell or something similar. I'm almost confident she didn't learn from this and will no doubt continue her behavior.

I'm a Lifetime movie fan, but can't recommend this one...it's pretty bad!
LiveLoveLead27 June 2021
Lifetime movies...some can be quite enjoyable, some are just bad... this falls under the latter. The idea for the plot had interesting potential, but this was a failed attempt. The script was poorly written and very predictable. (not to mention the description/synopsis on the Lifetime channel gave too much away) There was very little character development and none of the characters were very likable, including the main character, Amelia who had such a weird personality and made such stupid choices that it made it hard to feel for her, which was also due to the mediocre acting and bad directing. All the acting seemed amateurish and shallow, and the director failed to build the tension and mystery needed to make this successful...not to mention tons of plot holes and super unbelievable decisions. This Lifetime movie is a hard pass IMHO!

Hello, My Heart
lavatch6 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Amelia Green is a skilled 9-1-1 operator. She has the ability to patiently talk through crisis situations with people in a desperate state. But due to a fetish, Amelia makes a mess of her life.

The fetish is to track down the victims she spoke with on the phone and take away a remembrance, which she locks away in her closet. Her little game goes too far with a man who landed in the hospital with a coma after being struck by a moving vehicle. Amelia calls the man Daniel Jones and lies to the hospital staff that he is her fiancé.

The unsuspecting Amelia is duped by Daniel, who is in fact Henry Danvers, a serial killer. Amelia apparently falls in love with him, but it is a relationship without affection or intimacy. It is in fact a relationship built on a lie.

While the characters of the film were intriguing, the overall effect of the drama was extremely unpleasant. Another curious figure is Michael, the co-worker of Amelia who has a crush on her. Michael is another creepy character, who at one point appears to be the killer of Trent and Stephanie, who were other 9-1-1 operators who were harassing Amelia.

Over all, the film gave emergency phone responders a bad name. It really was a motley crew working the 9-1-1 lines, especially the repellent Trent. The film's only nice touch was a salutation that Daniel would typically give to Amelia when she phoned him. "Hello, my heart," Daniel would say. And he was a good enough actor to actually make it sound convincing.

Not so good
dnbaeb28 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It took 3 attempts to get through this movie. I mean was she really that desperate for a man that she had to hang around a hospital and wait for a hit & run victim to come out of a coma and then lie about them being engaged. It was really, really hard to feel sorry for her. I mean she's stalking people and then being a liar on top of that. She brought that drama into her life-I'm just sayin.

Not great
bpreston-6153725 June 2021
The plot line had potential but none of the characters were particularly interesting, dialogue was flat and boring, and there were way too many subplots/relationships that took away from time that could have been spent developing the relationship between the main characters. I would like to say I cared whether Stephanie lived or died, but really the only person I was remotely worried about was the mailman toward the end. It was a miss for me.

This movie made absolutely no sense from beginning to end I wouldn't recommend this to anyone at first it was tolerable & seem like it would be okay but it just got worse & worse from there me & my girl both just wanted it off the main character was too stupid & just brought the whole movie down literally everything she did was wrong & a dumb decision the police didn't even act like the real police they didn't care much about anything even though they were a big part but yea don't watch this probably the worst movie I've seen in awhile.

Two psychos come together Warning: Spoilers
Creepy weirdo 911 operator who goes to the hospitals of the victims who call, to swipe their personal effects for her sick collection meets one of her 911 victims who just happens to be a serial killer.

Unaware that he's a killer and learning that he has amnesia, creepy weirdo operator tells the nurse that he's her fiance and takes him home like one would a new pet. It served her right that he was a serial killer! Couldn't she find herself a man in more conventional ways?!

Pretty much every character in this fun movie was psycho and ironically the serial killer was the most normal of the crazy bunch.

The poor guy genuinely wanted to change his murderous ways and hang up his knife when he found love with the crazy operator, but she just couldn't give her heart to him after finding out his little hobby. It's a shame because these two psychos were perfect for each other.

He collects his victims hair while she swipes the personal effects of hers....they're just two crazy peas in a pod.

I turned this on without knowing the plot and really enjoyed it. It's got good pacing, good acting and lots of suspense. Definitely recommended!!

"surprisingly" boring movie
shmailmail16 July 2021
Even when viewed at double speed, and most of today's films do not deserve more, this is an amazingly very boring film. I think the great John Woo would have shot it in 40 seconds, along with the credits and music! Absolutely does not deserve even 5 minutes of attention! Lost time. The only thing that deserves attention is the question, It's not even a question, And the hint that the film raises is the process of choosing a partner! A working woman has an offer of sex right at work + there is a man who has good feelings for her and talks about them directly, but she chooses a serial killer !!! Recalled a case when in 1970 on the television show "The Dating Game" among the invitees was, by chance, serial killer Rodney Alcala. And who do you think the female audience chose? Naturally a serial killer!!! Fortunately, the girl who had to go on a date with him for some reason could not go for some reason, which is probably glad she. Still seems to have become a way when parents choose a spouse does not ask the children it still makes sense.

If you're looking for a great movie, then this is it!
rozapinky30 June 2021
Perfect movie for afternoon/evening relaxation. Tense and interesting to the very end. More than a great performance by Cameron Jebo in this unusual role for him. There are not many actors capable of playing such a complex, dark role. Cameron Jebo certainly succeeded in that and that's what makes this movie so special and worth watching.

Great Movie to Indulge In!
trishd52560020 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with other reviews that Cameron Jebo is great in this movie! Lesa Wilson is believable as a do-gooder with eccentricities hiding in a hopeless romantic. I never quite know what to expect in Cameron's character. He does a great job hiding between two characters! If you are a sucker for a bad boy this is a movie you can get into for certain! Yes the story loses speed in the second half but that's because the writing tries to do too much with little time left to get it wrapped up. They wasted too much time with the extraneous secondary story arc of Amelia's character's issues with her boss and his girlfriend. They should've expanded the background of Daniel and fleshed out The Red Headed Killer storyline instead. Also, Amelia gets off with no responsibility and gets her happy ending when she was almost as unstable as Henry. It would have been truer to the characters for both of them to be together and leave. It would've left an opening for a sequel which Lifetime loves to do! The movie would have felt fuller if the second half was written with a better focus and balance. As is, Cameron and Lesa make the movie worth investing in- watching their characters and the wonderful job they do with them is worth your time!
