Episode 3
bobcobb3018 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have my complaints about the show, but the action and effects are not one of them. I feel like that is a really stuck up thing to complain about as clearly this program has a huge budget given the actors, promotion and only airing 6 episodes in the first season. I don't nitpick or notice all the little things that some people do.

Now, I am a little disappointed by the story tonight, with a generic heist and then an unsurprising reveal that Mason's wife was actually someone else. We knew that a "twist" like this would come, but sometimes you hope against hope about TV shows avoiding these kinds of cliches.

If you can't do good action and CGI don't
luca-lindhorst5 May 2023
At the beginning of the Episode there is a flashback, how the protagonists met, it doesn't really give you much for the story. For the most part it is a action set piece. But most of it is just really really terrible CGI, and the rest of it is utterly ridiculous and bad action.

The rest of the episode is mostly fine. In parts it is a bit childish and the Kyle/Nadia storyline is just doing a task to get a thing for another task without really progressing the plot. The Bernard storyline is more interesting, while some things are relatively obvious the twist in the end is unexpected and quite changes the dynamics of the situation.

Getting even more James Bond: Ski boots
frisozwerver5 May 2023
It's finding its way more and more, for sure. Mr madden and ms Chopra are getting into their own, as well as Tucci, and some good and bad guys are getting less and less one dimensional.

I'm not letting myself get distracted by the mission impossible-esque action (i like that and James Bond has always been a favourite of mine, what's not to like?!), though the Russo dudes might consider getting a bit less over the top. But again, don't do it on my part. For now I'm mainly interested where the story is heading, on the one hand a lot is happening, but it feels the pacing is of somehow for now...

I'm staying on this ride though, seems the way is up...

Infinite Shadows

Now the main characters have been established, some of them have got their memory back. You have a main outline of the plot.

The third episode plays around with known facts, even subverting some of the characters.

Bernard Orlick has been caught by Manticore and is being tortured by Dahlia Archer's expert interrogators. Bernard is in for a lot of pain.

For Mason and Nadia it is all about trust. Something that spins though their first meeting in a mission some years earlier. Only Mason learns that someone deep inside the Citadel betrayed them to Manticore.

A big hint as to not everyone is who them seem is. When Bernard's wife Joe asks Abby just how she and Mason got together. The answer was just a bit too neat and unconvincing.

Citadel still look expensive and slick. That is a big plus point as it aims for James Bind style action sequences. The plot is very much seen it all before.

The Duchess Of Cambridge
xmasdaybaby19665 May 2023
This was released the day before King Charles had his coronation and even this show was getting in on the act with a mention of Kate Middleton.

I bingewatch nearly everything these days, having to wait a week, I thought it might lose motivation but I was soon back into the throng of the show.

Stylish and lavish, it can be seen why the show is thd second most expensive in history. There is a lot of Bond of Bourne about it and offers great excitement but we all know the good guys always win in the end (assuming Citadel are the good guys).

In time-honoured fashion, we Brits play the bad guys in American shows and Lesley Manville player her part incredibly well.

Such a shame we have to wait another week for the next part.

A steep decline
michelle-erika5 May 2023
Madden and Chopra Jonas each earn two stars for their ability to create excitement, drama and chemistry when required. Tucci adequately phones in his quips. Cinematography and wardrobe rely far too much on breasts. Clumsy exposition like "I need your 19 character password to access the system" (after explaining what the system does to the man who operated it) is common. But when a handsome, high quality actor like Richard Madden is required to say the words "Activate ski boots" with a completely serious face, the show moves from a reality-suspending action spy drama to a cheesy James Bond sketch a la SNL.

Oh God...

I mean the story is completely boring but that's not my problem about this series. I often read how incredibly expensive the series is. But when you look at the animations it looks like a fan made series. Where the hell did they spend the money on?!

In the first two episodes the animations sometimes looked a bit off and you could visibly see the immense use of green screens. But in episode 3 the whole sequence on this mountain is a complete disgrace.

Yesterday I looked at the reviews but considered to give it a chance. But that was definitly the last episode I have watched.

They should give the money to a good writer instead...

Hopes for improvement dashed.
BLAlley5 May 2023
There is a lot to like about the show, but they are completely undermined by the bad writing and moronic tech.

Filmmakers, please stop with the monitors that are clear (and holographic displays). No one would use them because you wouldn't be able to see the images and data. Dumb.

Even more idiotic is tech that appears out of thin air. It was stupid when the Batmobile shields came from nowhere in 89, and just as stupid now when the Avengers' suits magically expand from nowhere.

Oh, and what kind of dark operative sloppily interrogates an agent in their own home including noisy torture?

The creators are too busy with "cool" but dumb scenes to come up with anything intelligent and interesting to engage us.
