Its true colors are grim but this is a good show
Chuck4Ever30 October 2021
This is the most grim episode yet. Grim! Also the very end of it seemed to go too far.

Overall, though, I think this show is a good, slow burn. Decent plot, good writing and excellent acting.

I didn't think I could withstand Jeff Daniels any longer but everyone's doing great work.

Grim

This show is pretty grim so in many ways, it's hard to enjoy because it's just pretty bleak overall. I mean, that IS the point of it. It's clearly the vibe they were going for, but it's hard to enjoy at times. I feel invested enough to continue, but in some ways, I wish I could just finish it and be done.

Best show on tv right now hands down.

Every once and a while a gem of a TV show comes along, well this is one of them. The acting is superior in every way & the writing is Oscar worthy, I can only pray there's going to be many more seasons to come.

Unjustified

Warning: Spoilers
What occurred in any previous interaction between Grace Poe and Lee English was there to justify Grace intentionally hitching a lift with Lee and her husband with the sole purpose of all but saying right out that Lee had slept with her Son?

Going along fine until. . . . .
cmaj-5057419 October 2021
This series was chugging along fine, albeit slowly. But then the motel scene (I won't ruin it with spoilers). This was simply unnecessary gratuitous sex, designed to shock, perhaps the writer or director indulging in his/her own fetishes. It was irrelevent to the story line in that the explicit details could have been avoided. If this is prelude to the direction this series is taking then it has derailed.

Whelp... I can see why it's canceled after one season
vdoman31 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The motel scene was not needed... at least not in such graphic detail. The producers could have shown the two of them going into the room and let the viewer fill in the blanks. Letting your audience use their imagination is a good thing. Actually, I thought it was kind of childish to have shown that much, kind of like wanting to add shock value. Well, they got it, they can be shocked that it was canceled.

I've enjoyed the show so far. The acting is superb, the mood is dark and the pace is slow. The secrets and nuisances reveal themselves as we go along. I'll watch the rest, but I'm just very disappointed and now understand why there is no season two.

Showing it's true colors now

When you're running out of ideas for extending the story. The motel scene. Unreal and extended way far beyond what is necessary. Yea, we get the actor is gay and needs money. Zero reason to go into explicit details and make it 10-12 minutes of the entire episode.

Unless the director wanted to get off on it or something. Or lost a bet.
