Voice character change was too far
offlanderaus14 August 2023
I enjoyed the show before, but the change in main character voice just did not suit the show. Think this is a huge miss and the show will sadly probably crash and burn.

Justin Roiland was the main reason people watched past episode number 1. His voice is iconic and made Korvo, and from his previous work it helped us get past the first few episodes.

Dan Stevens is a fine voice actor, but he is playing two roles here. He is playing Justin Roilands playing Korvo.... it just does not work.

Given the nature of the show it would have almost been better to do a timetravel deal and replaced Korvo with a different character. Then Dan Stevens could have made a new character his own and there would have been no expectation to replicate Justins performance.

People in the forums are saying we should just deal with the new character... the response is no, I mourn the loss of our Korvo.

The episode itself was below average. Season 3 raised expectations with story lines and this episode was honestly boring... This needed to be a 10/10 episode to get viewers over the loss of the voice talent.... It just rubbed salt in the wound.

Used to be a great show
RickSC13714 August 2023
This used to be a great show to watch but now with the new voice as Korvo, it just isn't the same. There are much better voice actors out there that sound like Justin Roiland and they could have used them instead of a British sounding character. For fans of the show who enjoy the other characters, they might still like the show but those who watched to hear Justin's voice, it just isn't the same anymore. I don't know if the fan base will continue to watch but fore me, I couldn't make it through the first episode so I definitely, won't be watching anymore of this show. I dread to think what the new season of Rick and Morty will sound like.

They just did it
imdb-2163311 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was wondering how they would handle the voice of Korvo? But they just replaced it in the most insane way possible. It's all so in line with the show. Of course they have a ray with cronitons that can fix a voice. Terry all hot for the British accent and Yumyulac just doesn't care.

Well done creative team. 8 episodes in and it is great as always and the new voice doesn't botter me at all. I even think it fits the character of Korvo better. Since he was always a bit uptight trying to be a upper class Schlorpian is just fitting.

Rest of the season is also great and love how they just ignore the Schlorpians and have a full Wall or Silvercops episode.

Unwatchable

I was so excited for season 4 until the first few seconds into the episode. The new voice is AWFUL. It's completely opposite from the original. How on earth can the writers think it is ok to change the rough, distinct voice of Justin to some fancy British voice? It doesn't even feel like the same show anymore, they might as well have canceled it and just made a brand new show.

I tried to give it a good shot and enjoy the show but every time Korvo speaks I found myself pausing the show and physically cringing. This has got to be one of the worst decisions a studio has ever made and I hope future studios consider their viewers before ruining a great show.

Voice Change works Perfect
kilomylesco20 August 2023
Honestly, the characters are because of their writing, not the voice acting (which is good!). So the people saying the show is ruined without the creator, should note that he's on the writer's credits on this episode.

Changing the voice dramatically makes more sense too, since having someone try to match the voice wouldn't work. I'm about 4 episodes in and am looking forwards to the rest!

This episode sets up the rest of the season presumably working at the rake factory, and The Wall side story makes its return in classic wall-style. Overall, the series continues to grow and improve as it moves passed its past.

They don't care anymore
lemasive14 August 2023
The showrunners have completely let us down, crude jokes and boring plots gave us nothing. From being a show that delivered solid episodes of above mediocre fun it's now a chore to watch it.

This show lacks any finesse, intelligence, or interest. They replaced the voice of Corvo for obvious reasons, it didn't fit very well but was not a dealbreaker.

The sloppy writing, with lots of curse words and something that would best fit in on 4chan or Reddit, just gets boring really fast. There is nothing that redeems this season or episode, it's like they don't care anymore, and so I won't either.

The show is dead.

It's the same show, get over the voice
jpd02617 November 2023
It feels no different as far as flow, humor, and proof Justin Roiland had totally checked out. I can imagine watching the first episode nobody has seen "Old Boy" or knows who Maria Bamford is. I hate that this and Rick and Morty has become a beacon for an Elon like cult of apologizing for problematic idiots that have checked out. The kind of mentality that is a specific kind of made up cancel culture (which doesn't even exist in the first place). It's just a bunch of incels who don't like they aren't cool and think that the behavior that Justin Roiland had had for years now is a normal thing. It's not. The episode is hilarious, a brilliant plot, and you get used to the new Korvo voice in a minute as long as that's not all you focus on. Just, UGGGHHH. It's not the best episode but it's still Solar Opposites in every other way. And again, all Justin ever did was take credit for the voices, he didn't show up to work or write crap.

This show was never great, but nearly unwatchable now.
jimhaney-122247 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the little people in the wall fighting with candy etc. In previous seasons, and overall, some of the episodes are okay, but I always hated the main characters.

It is a drag to even try and sit through this episode. Woohoo, their boss dies, yay (I guess) someone's head gets smashed. They call Ping Pong "Ping Ping" for 10 minutes... So, what is the plot, where are the jokes?

Only joke this whole episode was that their are 3 invisible planets the humans don't know about, kind of fun. If we lean more into this and less into half-assed character development that will get ret-conned next season (this show will never end I guess), we may have a show

More jokes, gore doesn't make a show by itself.

I can't with the new Korvo voice actor
cassandracantrell-1581023 February 2024
I'm so upset they changed the voice actor for korvo. I didn't realize how important his character was till they changed the voice actor. The show is NOT the same. They would have been better off making a new character or something. Like why not find someone who sounds similar at least. The British accent completely takes away from the show. Like every time he's on screen I cringe when he talks. I REALLY don't understand the reasoning behind choosing the British accent. It completely changes the vibe of his character. He doesn't sound as serious and deadpan anymore. Maybe to a British person there isn't as much of a difference?? Idk. I just feel like the voice they chose for him makes him have a completely different personality. Like literally every aspect of this show is tainted with the fact they changed the voice. I can't even enjoy the wall side story. Ugh I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a new season for a show.
