Wizard of the first order

Zedd eats a poisoned fruit and forgets all about the team, running away and leaving Richard and the others behind. It is all the fault of the witch Shota, who wants to find a new Seeker to fight against the Keeper. But things don't go as she intended and a young Zedd runs amok wreaking havoc and believing he is unstoppable. Richard will have to stop him from making a horrible mistake.

This episode of the "Legend of the Seeker" starts a little bit slow and seems to be just filling time, but when Zedd becomes young again and runs away from Shota it becomes quite interesting and funny. It is a failure of the show, though, that it keeps making similar situations happen so close one to the other: Richard is confessed and changes behaviour, Zedd is poisoned and changes behaviour... It is probably the weakest in the plot department of all the episodes of this second season, but it still has lots of funny moments and the acting is a step up from the last episodes. Not great but good enough.

S02Ep05 - Wizard" - a fairly weak episode with moments of comedy. Good special effects, lots of hokum about Zedd being subjected to a spell cast by Shota for her own selfish ends. The spell makes him young for a while, giving a nice parody of how an old man is viewed by a (much) younger woman - nicely acted - and ends up with a memorable line from Zedd: "One journey down the agonising gauntlet of youth is enough for any man".

The adventure drops into the rift and back out. This is about the sixth episode which I have watched so far (in March 2018) from the boxed DVD sets from the original 2008-2010 broadcast, and this episode makes me even more certain that a "gag reel" would be a great Christmas present - someone must have laughed, at least occasionally, when delivering some of these lines!

The episode finishes with a morale-boosting discussion as our quartet return to their quest. Not the best episode in Season 2, but it passed a quiet 42 minutes.
