Baana KaathadiCast: Atharva, Samantha, Prasanna and KarunasDirector: Badri VenkateshRating: ** Director Badri Venkatesh’s Baana Kaathadi , much like its meaning, Kites, tries flying high only to come crashing down. Using the sport as a background (though it often seems like an excuse to get some colour into the frames), the film interweaves a romance between a rich girl and a poor boy from the Chennai slums. What a yawn, for how often have we seen this unfold on screen. The only new angle here appears to be the kite that plays cupid – and literally. Chasing a kati patang (or ...

Sathya Jyothi Films is producing a film titled Baana Kathadi which has Murali’s son Adharva and Samantha in the lead roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music. Badri Venkatesh is directing this film. The audio CD was released in Chennai. Abhirami Ramanathan released the audio CD while L Suresh received it. Murali while speaking on this occasion said,” In my 30 years Film career I would have committed at least 1000 mistakes. But my producers pardoned me and accepted me. I have advised Adharva to respect the producers. I have acted in Pagal Nilavu and Idhayam produced by Sathya Jyothi Films and now this same production company is introducing my son.
Adharva has acted well then me in Poovilanagu. I cannot dance but Adharva has danced well. It is a tough thing for a heroe’s son to win. But people who have come here had appreciated him. So I feel that he will win.

Actor Prasanna is badly in need of a big hit as none of his films have yielded him better results at box office. Much alike many actors, he has given up his strategy of performing hero roles and opted for supporting characters.
He’ll be spotting performing the role of ‘Maanja Ravi’ in his upcoming film ‘Baana’, which is set in the backdrops of Gujarat Kite Festival. The film marks the debut of ace actor Murali’s son Adharva in lead role while new cherubic girl Samantha stars opposite him in female lead.
The film is directed by Badri Venkatesh, a short filmmaker who has won awards for his spellbinding piece of works. He has roped in Prasanna to perform this challenging role of ‘Maanja Ravi’ – a ruffian, who feels good for Adharva that he must come up in life.
