Excellent Political Drama

Complex yet easy to follow. I love the focus on Greenland. Fascinating insight into the culture of a country we rarely hear about, and it's relationship to Denmark.

Greenland Uber Alles
Hitchcoc3 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There are two threads at work here. First of all is the discovery of oil in Greenland. Many of the small population of Greenland have seen the Danes as oppressors, or at least not interested in their welfare. So when this huge gift from the earth comes along, they don't want to share any of it (although, who is in charge is a little bit uncertain. Enter other foreign powers: the Russians, the Chinese, and the Americans, and so on. Brigitte wants Denmark to be a part but those in Greenland are talking total control of it. This is the episode where we Brigitte becoming more and more angry and intractable. It is revealed that she is going through menopause, so she is having all the symptoms while trying to keep control. She has an ugly confrontation the representatives from Greenland. She goes way over the top in speaking of general problems the country has and throws them in their faces. She then walks out. On another front we have Katerine now the head of news at her network. She is constantly looking things from her own perspective, fuming and ranting about how people are doing their jobs. She embarrasses her evening anchor and gives an interview with Brigitte to another anchor. She has become ugly in her interactions with her staff and this isn't coming to any good. We haven't heard the last of Magnus and the pig truck. There is a poignant scene at the end where Brigitte gets drunk and find herself on the floor. Lots of real symbolism at work here.
