The role of Reagan Rossi was originally written for and given to the writer/director's friend Nico Moschetto, but 4 days before filming he had to drop out. Nix therefore took on the role of Rossi as a last minute solution.
Some films that inspired the project: Problem Child 1 & 2 and Election.
David E. McMahon was originally going to clean shave his scalp and only leave a ring of hair from ear to ear wrapping around the back of his head. He couldn't do so due to several projects planned afterward. Instead he and the director settled for him having blonde highlights.
Multiple cameos throughout the film feature several of Dylan R. Nix's fellow filmmakers and past collaborators including: Jacob Perrett (dir. Spine Chiller & Anatomy of a Woman), Michael Ballif (dir. They Live Inside Us), James Morris (dir. He Never Left), Ryan Sheets (dir. The Pumpkin Man), Gunner Clarke (frequent collaborator and actor, Baron Von Laugho's Halloween Spook-a-thon!), and Jeff Everhart (co-director Baron Von Laugho's Halloween Spook-a-thon!)
Despite a few instances of error due to budgetary reasons (some modern cars, buildings, etc) the film is meant to be set in the late 90s around 1998/99. You'll notice that any phones used in the film are landlines and no cell phones are featured. Older televisions can be seen in Reagan's trailer, Yarley's house, and other various scenes. There is other technology seen as well such as Sierra's cassette player, and a record player, video tapes, vintage toys like what seems to be a Barney-esque doll and a toy castle by Fisher-Price (both of which were favorite toys of the director growing up); add to this, a scene that takes place in a music store (granted some modern artists can be seen) would have been an everyday occurrence in the 90s. Plus Yarley mentions that Reagan works at a video store. The director wanted to avoid modern day and let the audience gradually discover this as there is never any mention of the year via a line or text.
